S0,Dk0l7'Z0l'E 6L55 1 We started out our Freshman year with our lnitiation Dance. Our class placed members in the debate team, band and basketball. The Freshman class officers were: President - - - Charles Walker Vice President - - Wilton Willy Secretary - - Bernice Campbell Representative - - - Dick Ray The Sophomore Class under the guidance of Miss Lunelle Chapin, has been outstanding in its ability and willingness to co-operate with the other classes and members of the student body. To head the class this year, the class of '43 chose Doris Ann Woods, President, Bob Kline, Vice-president, Verene Bailey, Secretary-Treas- 22 urer, and Dick Ray, Representative to the Student Council. While there was a large turnout of Sophomores for football this year, only Tom Martin made his letter. Bob McCarthy, Hugh Irving, Glen Goslin, Tom Martin, Dick Ray, Bob Kline, Leo Backman, Alvin Hickom, and Frank Beyers gained honors for the class in basketball on CoquilIe's B squad. The sole representative on the debate squad from the Sophomore Class was Patty Brady. The Sophomores in the high school band include: Eugene Meade, Dick Gregory, and lack McCracken, trumpets, Mary Louise Woodhurst, and Bob Kline, clarinets, Patty Brody, trombone, lerry Howell, saxophone, and lanice Osterhout, drum. With two years of high school ahead of them, the members of this class should continue to climb to greater heights. THE LAUREL
