Luzior Glass isfory -A' We, the juniors of l94l, may not be considered the most important class in the school but it can- not be denied that we are essential. Our first class organization supervised by Mr. Cole in our freshman year resulted in the election of Donald Whereat as our President. George Hol- brook presided over our Sophomore Class meetings, and our junior Class President was Duane Terry, with Mr. Bob Nelson as our most efficient class advisor. We have had our hand in Student Body govern- ing, too. The Student Council has had these juniors: Louis Gilbert, vice-president, George Hol- brook, Louis Gilbert and George Hannon, represen- tatives. Chairs have been held in the Girls' League Coun- cil by the following junior girls: Anabel Martin- dale, representative, social service chairman, and President, Phyllis Bunch, vice-president, Dorothy Ritchey, secretary, Ernestine Batty, treasurer, Glenda Clinton, assistant point chairman, Evelyn Gano, entertainment chairman, and Dorothea Yar- brough, Betty Miller, Dorothy Graham, and june Rovang, representatives. Extra! Extral The Hi-Times is out and on the editorial page have always been found the names of a good number of the class of '42. This year those pen-wielders were: Beverly Farrell, assistant editor, Glenda Clinton, exchange editor, Betty Donsted, assistant society editor, Alice Howard, feature writer, and Dorothea Yarbrough, jerry But- ler, Don Littler, and Phyllis Bunch, reporters. jerry Butler and George Folsom have argued for Coquille on the Debate Team. Although the Glee Club has had o greater rep- resentation of juniors in the post, this year it was supported by two juniors: Margie Baumgartner and Phyllis Bunch. At the command Strike up that band the junior members of our top-notch band have always added their share of pep. This year those time- marking classmates arei Glenda Clinton and june Rovang, clarinets, jack Newton and Harold Winegar, trombones, George Holbrook, trumpet, Wanda Lu Bell, saxophone, Phyllis Bunch, flute, and George Folsom, boss drum. MAY, l94l On the football field our two-year lettermen are Eu- gene Spud Crouch and Wayne Terry. Those holding one- year awards o r e I Louis Gilbert, and Don Whereat. Spectators at C. H. S. basketball games have watched Eugene Crouch, two- year letterman roll up the points for Coquille High. Success has certainly come our way in the field of entertainment. On November 29, l94O, the juniors, under the direction of Mrs. Hill and Mr. Nelson, presented The Vampire Bat a three-act mystery thriller. Amid a blitzkrieg of Oregon rain, guest after guest entered into a bit of war-time London lordinarily the Coquille High auditoriuml on the night of April 4, l94l. Under dimmed lights and to the strains of orchestral music these guests DUAN E TERRY, President of the juniors danced among sand bags, bomb warnings, and even through a blackout. The junior-Senior Banquet was held on Tuesday, May 6. The traditional myrtlewood cane was pre- sented to the junior president, Duane Terry, by LeRoy Gilbert, the Senior president. We juniors have only one more year in Coquille High. My but it's going to be quiet when we're gone. ROBERT NELSON, Adviser
