Knerr, J. Beltz, S. Santee, R. Dal Pezzo, J. Churetta. The scheduled 1957 football campaign at Coplay High School was surveyed with optimistic vision by Coach Steiner. He predicted this season would be the best in ten years. The final count showed his prognostication to be on the level. After Slatington and Catasauqua inflicted defeats on the determined Wildcats, they bounced back verance and fortitude to be victorious over Jim Thorpe and Bangor. Following another defeat by Nesco] team closed the grid season by edging a good Parkland eleven 14-12, thus producing the best record at 25 years—3 wins, 3 losses. The entire squad exhibited the vital element--the will to win—throughout the campaign and our school c very proud of this fine 1957 football team. Here's hoping that future football squads will follow in the paths cess and teamwork. Junior Varsity SITTING: B. Korsak, R. Rinker, R. Koehler, D. Miller, J. Churetta, L. Schaffer, R. Miller. STANDING: J. Betz, J. Bodnar, S. Schrantz, H. Needham, J. Klucsarits, R. Gorr, Mr. L. Carter, Coach. With the entire first team of a year ago on the varsity squad, the J.V. basketball outlook appeared gloomy. However, the boys ignored this morbid prospect and exhibited a fine brand of basketball. The season was marked with several bumps and rough times but the Baby Wildcats proved that they had both stamina and basketball savy. As the season gradually came to a close, the wildcat yearlings had produced a neat but not gaudy 12-9 record. Here's hoping they continue to carry their experience and talent into their future varsity years.
