Dr. Thames Leads College As president of Co-Lin for 21 years, Dr. Billy B. Thames has seen the college go through many changes - changes leading to progress. Under his guidance, the num- ber of campus facilities has increased, student enrollment has risen, and programs have been improved. Also, under Dr. Thames leadership, Co-Lin is serving the people of the seven county area more than ever. We are playing a larger role in the commu- nities through program expansion and through offering our facilities to area resi- dents, he said. On a typical school day, Dr. Thames can be found busy in his office or attendi an important meeting of college officials. In his spare time, Dr. Thames enjoys woodworking, making such things as a table for his daughter and a rocking horse for a friend. - -i Dr. Thames always has time for his family which includes first row, left to right, Mrs. Ann Thames and Dr. Thames. Second row, his children, Rachel, William, and Rebecca. During the summer months, Dr. Thames hits a few golf balls at the college ' s course after a day at the office or on weekends.

Alexanders Receive Dedication The 1988-89 anniversary edition of the Trillium is dedicated to Wade and Sharon Alexander, who first joined the Co-Lin faculty in the fall of 1970. Their participation in school, special, and community events over the past 19 years is clearly evident, and their leadership has been recognized by the adminis- tration and fellow faculty members. Mrs. Alexander, an English instructor, has served as overall chairperson of the 60th anniversary celebration and as vice chairman in the faculty staff drive of the Investment in Excellence campaign. She is a former president of the Copiah-Lincoln Education Association, is an active member of Delta Kappa Gamma educator ' s organization, and for several years, served as co-sponsor of Co-Lin ' s Phi Theta Kappa chapter. Mrs. Alexander was chosen to Outstanding Educators of America and in 1967 was star teacher at Crystal Springs High School. She attended William Jewell College in Missouri and received her bachelor of science and master of education degrees from Mississippi College. Mr. Alexander is chairperson of Co-Lin ' s social science division and is a history instructor. He is a former track and assistant football coach. The Columbus native is a graduate of Co-Lin and received his bachelor of science degree from Mississippi State University and his master of education degree from Mississippi College. He served in the United States Army for two years, was an assistant coach at Tunica, head football and track coach at Crystal Springs and Bastrop, La. Mr. Alexander is a member of the Mississippi Junior College Faculty Association, and he was president of the Wesson Lions Club in 1976-77. The Alexanders have two children, Wade and Amy, who are both Co-Lin graduates. 17
