Wesson Campus Trillium dedication goes to Dr. Phyllis Hayes 'An instructor loved by her students for her helpfulness and genuine interest. 'A person who was one of five international winners of Outstanding Junior College Chemistry Instructors in North America by the Chemical Manufacturers Association of America in 1980. 'A lady who won the first-ever academic Outstanding Instructor of the Year at Copiah-Lincoln in 1980. She used a S250 award to establish the Arlee Williamson Walker Memorial Pre-Professional Science Scholarship, named in memory of the mother of Co-Lin's Burlian Walker. 'A person who was selected to be featured in Mississippi Magazine in People of Mississippi in January 1981. Further she has been selected to appear in Outstanding Young Women of America in 19703 Outstanding Educators of America in 1973, Personalities of the South, 19813 and Outstanding Women of the Arts Coil paintingj in Delta Kappa Gamma, 1981. 'The chairperson of Co-Lin's science division, a chemistry instructor, who joined Co-Lin's faculty in 1964. Previously she taught one year in McComb. 'An active member of the Mississippi Science Teachers Associationg Mississippi Junior College Faculty Associationg Copiah-Lincoln Education Association of which she is a former presidentg American Chemical Societyg Mid-South Educational Research Associationg Alpha Epsilon Delta, pre-medical honorary society, Kappa Delta Pi, education honorary, and Delta Kappa Gamma, education honorary. 'A graduate of Southwest Junior College with an A.A. degree, a B.S. from Millsaps College: Educational Specialist with emphasis in chemistry and biology, University of Mississippig and an M.A. and Ph.D., both from the University of Southern Mississippi. 'One who was chosen as a National Science Foundation participantg Memphis State participant in instrumental analysisg participant for the Educators Orientation trip with the U.S. Navy to tour the Naval Nuclear Base in Charleston, S.C.g as one of ten by Ole Miss Phar- macy School to tour pharmaceutical houses in Illinois, and as a par- ticipant in various metric and curriculum study workshops throughout the nation. 'A dedicated Co-Lin employee who has worked as a judge in state and local science fairs, who has presented numerous talks and research to groups on local, state and nation-wide levels.
