It ' s all apart of moving on in Natchez. Dr. Billy Thames works hard for college district Dr. Billy B. Thames, president of Copiah-Lincoln Junior Col- lege district since January, 1968, constantly works for the bet- terment of both the Wesson and Natchez campuses. An honor graduate of Copiah-Lincoln in 1954 and an initial inductee into the college ' s Hall of Fame, he obtained a bache- lor of science, a master of science, and an Ed.D. degree, all from the University of Southern Mississippi. An outstanding educator in Mississippi, Dr. Thames is ac- tive in the Copiah-Lincoln and National Education Associ- ations and the Mississippi Association of Educators; serves on the Advisory Council for the State Superintendent of Educa- tion; is a past president of the Mississippi Junior College President ' s Association and the Mississippi Adult Education Association; a member of Phi Delta Kappa and the Red Red Rose, education fraternities; and the Mississippi Junior Col- lege Faculty Association. He is a member of the Mississippi Junior College Commis- sion, has served as vice chairman of the executive committee for the Mississippi Council for the Improvement of Education, and on numerous other boards and committees. He is serving a second term as president of the Wesson Lions Club. He has served as a member of the board of direc- tors for Brookhaven Kiwanis Club, as Kiwanis Club ' s Circle K adviser, and was Circle K adviser one year. Further he is a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Wesson and for the State YMCA. Other community activities include being a member of the advisory council for the Boy Scouts of America, and a member of the University of Southern Mississippi and Copiah-Lincoln Alumni Associations. He is past chairman of the deacons of Wesson Baptist Church and a member of the board of directors. Because of his outstanding contributions to education, he was selected as one of six Outstanding Phi Theta Kappa Alum- ni in the United States in 1975, the announcement being made in Philadelphia, Pa. He was recognized by Mississippi College for Outstanding Service to Humanity in 1976. Copiah-Lincoln Alumni Association voted him Alumnus of the year in 1970 and in 1975 Monticello-Lawrence County Chamber of Com- merce recognized him for a special award of Contribution to Betterment of Life in Lawrence County, his home county. Trillium dedication goes to Alton Greenlee Alton Greenlee The Trillium staff dedicates the 1980 yearbook to a 1960 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College a graduate of Mississippi College with a bachelor and a master ' s degree a native of Brookhaven and a graduate of Brookhaven High School a person who taught and coached at West Tallahatchie High School in 1962-1963 and at Gulf port East High during 1966- 1967 a man who joined Copiah-Lincoln ' s facul- ty in 1963 as assistant coach, a position he held until 1966; then from July, 1967, un- til 1979. a person who became an instructor in his- tory and geography at the beginning of this year an active member of the Copiah-Lincoln Education Association, Mississippi Associ- ation of Education, and the Mississippi Association of Coaches a member of Wesson Baptist Church where he has served as a Sunday School teacher a man who is married to the former Chris- tine Tolar and who is the father of one son, Jeff a person who has dedicated his life to young people, to the betterment of the community and his church, and to his family . . . and to a person who serves as Co-Lin ' s head baseball coach The TRILLIUM staff dedicates this book to . . . Capturing four awards in the 1979 Mississippi Junior College Press As- sociation competition, the Wolf Tales is one of two full-sized junior college newspapers in Mississip- pi. This year the Wolf Tales went from twice a month to monthly. Hunter retires at semester B. F. Hunter, dean of instruction on Co-Lin ' s Wesson campus, retired at the close of first semes- ter. Mr. Hunter was associated with Copiah-Lincoln for twenty one and a half years. He joined the Co- Lin family in 1958 as registrar, a position he held until 1964 when he was named dean of instruction. Prior to then he served from 1946 until 1958 as principal of Monticello High School and for nine years before 1946 he was associated with the mili- tary service. He and his wife, Lenora, purchased a home in Brookhaven. The Hunters are parents of two children, Martha Carol Morrow, and one son, Alan Frank Hunter. A recognition dinner was held in his honor on the night of December 14, 1979. Several hundred faculty, staff, administration, board members, friends, family and former students attended the affair. Mr. and Mrs. Hunter were pre- sented an entertainment center from the faculty, staff, and friends, along with a book of letters from associates and a plaque to Mr. Hunter. Dr. Eddie Smith, dean of instruction on the Natchez campus since 1972, became district-wide dean of instruction upon Mr. Hunter ' s retirement December 31. Dr. Smith moved from the Natchez campus to set up his principal office on the Wesson campus. His time is spent between the two campuses, coordinating all programs. Dr. Eddie M.
