BILLY BASS THAMES Following President Fortenberryls resignation to become state su- pervisor of Mississippi public junior colleges, Mr. Billy Bass Thames was named president of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College. Mr. Thames, a native of Monticello and a graduate of Co-Lin where he was an outstanding student, assumed duties at the beginning of sec- ond semester. He came to Co-Lin from Belhaven College in Jackson where he had served as director of admissions for three years. From 1959 to 19641-, he was a teacher, coach, and counselor at Chas- tain Junior'High School in Jackson, and in the following year he served as principal of McAdams School, Attala County. Mr. Thames obtained his bachelor of science degree in 1958 and his master of science degree in 1959, both from the University of South- ern Mississippi. Since that time he has taken 40 hours of graduate work in guidance and school administration at Mississippi State Uni- 'ersity, the University of Mississippi, and Mississippi College.

E l r l l l I A Mr. Thames graduated with honors from Co-Lin where he was a three sport athlete and vice president of the sophomore class. He was named to Copiah-Lincoln's first Hall of Fame. He is past president of the Mississippi Association of College Ad- missions Counselors and past president of the Belhaven Faculty Club. Currently he is serving his second term as treasurer of Phi Delta Kappa, a national education fraternity. gl He and his wife, the former Anne Allen also of Monticello, have two Faughters, Rachel Lynn and Rebecca Leigh. 3' They are active members of the Baptist church. While at Belhaven, Mr. Thames was a deacon at Broadmoor Baptist Church, Sunday hchool su erintendent Ro al Ambassador leader and a training P P a Y 7 nion teacher Further he was active in the Boy Scout program w w Y t l Mr. and Mrs. Thames and Rachel Lynn are introduced to the student body.
