'-.M wmf'-w AMW i l 4.-.-.J Since 1939 President F. M. Fortenberry has been a vital part of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College. His long record of service to the college began when he was appointed coach, assistant dean, and instructor in science, which positions he held for six years. He has also served as director of athletics, dean of men, and assistant to the president. ln 1955, he became the fourth president of Copiah-Lincoln. A native of Smith County, Mississippi, President Fortenberry received a B.A. degree from Mississippi College and later his M.A. degree from the Universi- ty of Mississippi. This outstanding educator has served as president of the Mississippi Junior College Association, and is a member of the Southern Association of Junior Col- leges, Mississippi School Administrators Associa- tion, and the Mississippi Economic Council. Present- ly he is serving as a member of the Executive Council of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and as a member of the Mississippi Junior College Commission. A past chairman of the Committee on Studies and Accreditation of the Mississippi Education Associa- tion, college division, President Eortenberry is a member of Phi Delta Kappa, national education fra- ternity, past president of the Wesson Lion's Club, and a deacon in the Wesson Baptist Church. Last year Co-Linis Board of Trustees voted unani- mously to name the new vocational-technical build- ing in honor of him. President Fortenberry has been instrumental in many phases of progressive growth on the Co-Lin campus. Under his administration, many new programs and features have been added. several new buildings have been erected, and the college has experienced a growth in enrollment as well as faculty.
