From these counties Co-Lin students travel from our gateslto the far regions of the world with two years of education and many hours of helpful information stored in their minds. This Is Co-Lin The word this is an adjective and must have an object to modifyg this statement is what English scholars teach their students. However, there are times when authors can- not explain fully what objects they are trying to describe. So it is with this phrase, this is Copiah-Lincoln junior College and High School. For the question arises, XY!hat is Copiah-Lincoln? It is an institution for higher education . . . it is a meeting place for new faces . . . talking on the catwalk '... joining clubs . . . participating in extra curricular activities . . . singing from dorm windows . . . recreation and dancing in the Activity Building . . . playing tennis and touch football in P.E .... competing against other colleges in sports and events. And it is something more, it is the intangible sub- stance that the editors of this yearbook cannot name. Consequently, we are presenting to you, the heart and soul of Co-Lin, pictorial reviews of the 1963-64 year and leaving the answer to this riddle, What is Copiah-Lincoln Junior College? , in the proper hands, YOURS. Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and High School Wesson, Mississippi 1964 i ' ..,, -A ' .super 'W!81'1d!91' Dedication We the TRILLIUM Staff of 1964 pay tribute to nz person who has come to be loved and respected by the students of Co-Lin. His interest in his students and his eagerness to help them have endeared him to all who have come under his influence. Because he means so much to so many, we dedicate this edition to Coach Charlie King. Coach King, an active church and civic worker, serves as a Sunday School teacher at the Decell Memorial Methodist Church. His family includes his wife Lucy, and their three children. He received his B.A. and M.A. from Mississippi College. For the past seven years, he has taught college history and high school mathematics and served as the high school coach at Copiahlincoln. w aw' . if NX 'S' 55 ,MN .4 ,.,, w.' -.gn F' df JW TRN' .f . Mr. Clyde Wilson, band director, and Mrs. Betty Stewart, choreographer, will again work with the popular musical organization. The latest trip to an out-of-state convention while representing Mississippi acquired much applause, con- gratulations and newspaper coverage during their Louisville trip. The trip was spearheaded by the Brook- haven Junior Chamber of Commerce with the State Jaycees in affiliation. Many invitations similar to this type of convention have been issued to the Band and Colettes. Mr. Clyde Wilson band director at Co-Lin for five years can remember many highlights of the Co-Lin organization. The Cherry Blossom Festival, the Cotton Carnival, major Mississippi parades, and many other performances have been attended by his Co-Lin bands. He has developed probably one of the finest Show Bands in America's Junior Colleges. The Colettes, an all-girl dance and drill team, again under the direction of Mrs. Stewart of Brook- haven, will practice the routines for the dance team this year. The Colettes are chosen from the college girls and Junior and Senior Class high schoolers. The tryouts will be held on the campus with an em- phasis placed on beauty, poise, and talent, along with many other qualities. The girls are not required to have previous dance or majorette experience. All applicants will be coached in contest routines before the tryouts, New white Fall uniforms will be added to the Colettes' wardrobe. Mr. Wilson, a M.M.Ed. Degree holder from Vandercook College of Chicago, reports that the band will continue operating as a Show Band with personal arrangements made of the latest pop tunes for the foot- ball season. Many solo and combo numbers will be featured in the musical part of the shows. The halftime shows will feature original Colette dance routines, huge firework displays, twirling specialties, dance bands, drills with and without lighting, and many other special numbers. Most of the shows will have themes set around the use of show props constructed on the campus. The Band and Colettes will be running on schedule during the halftime intermission of all Co-Lin's home games. The first being Sept. 12 against Jones. , V .Mlxzlx KN?
