SOPHUWI 016 Now here are the keys. It's your car, so be careful. Don't speed or drive like a maniac. The insurance card is in the glove box, if needed, which it shouldn't be. Come home right after school. You have a full tank of gas! Don't cruise at lunch, ride with someone else or walk. Now get off to school so you won't be late. Be care- ful, just remember it's your car now, so it's your responsibility . . . Many sophomores found this to be true when they en- countered the first car experience. This was the time when Mommy and Daddy claimed the car was all yours, but the new driver found that quite often there were many rules attached, to the responsibility of owning a car. A new sophomore driver was usually spotted at lunch as the one who was out of the parking lot before anyone else was in their car or the first one running down the hall, eager to feel the power of being behind the wheel. One's first experience of driving wasn't always pleasant. Paranoia sometimes set in and accidents did happen, but altogether everything went pretty well. . , ft QW f , .

18 Lori Hollandsworth ?l655ffMlfl5i7V Being a freshman is not always what it is cut out to be. Although the younger kids look up to you and you get to go downtown for lunch, there are some disadvantages such as having more homework, taking tests day after day, and having the upper classmen still look down on you. The fresh- men are almost there and are earning their spot on the totem pole. Somewhere down inside, though, every- one knew deep in their hearts they were watching and waiting for the freshman to forget or mess up so they could exercise their authoratative rule yet it was a time of experiencing challenges. It gave them a chance to mature and prepare mentally and emotionally for the years to come.
