Mr. Robert DeGeus: art. VES FOR CULTURAL IDEAS The cultural enrichments offered this year en- abled students to get more acquainted with the many different worlds of fine arts. Our diligent band, not having the same text- books every year, of course but new music, looked forward to playing at the Grand Rapids Rotary Club for the first time. Also, since they had so many home games this year, the band was kept busy performing intricate routines for the intent onlookers. The hard-working Jazz Ensemble, appeared on the Buck Matthews Show this January. They were also hosts for the first annual Jazz Festival in Western Michigan, which was held in February. The choir also worked laboriously hard. They put on many concerts and outside en- gagements. The C’villaires had a busy sched- ule singing at many churches and numerous other places. Doing their own thing, the art students be- came new people and created fantastic designs and pictures. The relaxed atmosphere in the classroom aided students' concentration and work. 29

PHYSICAL EDUCATION The students who were involved in physical education this year learned, (among other things), how to do a push-up correctly, under the supervision of Mr. Vassalo and Miss Bouw- man.
