w, emoriam Jacqueline Fordham Timothy Fordham The community was shocked and saddened when on Sunday, June 26, 1960, tragedy struck, taking the lives of two of its finest young people. Timothy Ford- ham of the Class of 1959 and Jacqueline Fordham, Class of 1960, his sister, were drowned while taking a Sunday evening swim. A statement by Rev. Hessler in his funeral sermon is very fitting, we think. He said that while in life because they were close in age they had done many things together. Then he added that in death, too, they had gone hand in hand together. These two were both fine citizens, good students, and worthwhile friends. Though they no longer are among us physically, they will long live on in the hearts and memories of all who knew them. 8

Dedication Walt Whitman, the great American poet has said, “We face a future greater than all past.” Without the constant help and en- couragement of Russell F. Conran, our forward-looking principal, , Coopersville High School would not be what it is today. Keeping his eyes on the future, he has been one of the instrumental men in obtaining for Coopersville tbe enviable reputation it has won and kept for itself. His humor, his vigilance, and his quiet determ- ination are a part of the heritage that is now ours and will con- tinue to remain ours as we face the proud future with him at the helm. It is with a great deal of pride and pleasure that we, the 1961 ZENITH staff, dedicate this, our yearbook, to Russell F. Conran, our most worthy principal. 7
