Last years Sophomores, but grown up since ttien and now luniors, immediately put their shoulder to the wheel in an effort to retain their previous high standing. Elected to assist Miss lones with the such cessful carrying out of class affairs were: Thomas Larson, President: Paul Hartle, Vice President: lean Erickson, Secretary: Gloria Fleming, Treasurer. As the opening feature of what was to prove a very successful social season came the funior Halloween party on October l9, pro! claimed by all an enjoyable occasion. The dramatic season was ushered in on December i9 when the versatile luniors again scored a triumph in a three-act comedy entitled, Coznin' Thru the Rye. We luniors also received acclaim in the scholastic field by having the largest represen- tation in the honor groups. IUNZOH HONOR GROUP ns ow ff. Matsko, ff. billy, D. Potter, I. The outstanding salesrnanship during the Curtis Magazine Campaign of our home room sponsor Miss lones, gained us further recogni- tion. Following her remarkable example, we topped the roster on the winning team. Two of the high offices in the journalistic field, Co-editor of Cotohisc and Coheditor of Coopernian, were justly awarded to Gloria Fleming and Alice Heaton, members of our class. As the fitting climax to a highly successful social season, we presented, as a final tribute to the departing Seniors, the annual lunior- Senior Banquet. This event was held on the eve of May 3, at Cooper Grove, where students and teachers alike took part in the festivities. We will return to finish our last year at Cooper. We hope it will be as successful as all the others. IUNiOR OFFICERS ivan Erickson, Paul Hfntlsf, Thomas Itirson, Gloria Flcmin Q The Coopernian - X 3,0 omore Adfory Back again! This time not as timid Fresh- rrrerr, but as enthusiastic Sophornores, who riidri't waste any tirrre in getting our class or- ganized. Our number had now declined to torty-tour, arid we were placed under the super- vision ot Mrs. Love and Mr. Beam in Rooms 6 rrrrri 4, respectively. A class meeting and our annual class elec- tiorr were soon held, The results ot the election were: Pauline Hurrrenik, Presidentg lna Peavy, Vice-President, Howard Lutz, Secretary, Mar- garet losephson, Treasurer. This year we exhibited our abilities and talents by participating in curricular activities ot our school, such as the Cotohisc statt, assem- bly programs and baseball. We give much credit to lohn l-lumaney, larnes Petter, Mike Lucas, Frank Goss and George Lingentelter for showing great skill in baseball. iiCtl'llOMOltlI HONOR GROUP v - H w v f r i 1 Q tri if ,. l.r..'r.l.r l. ri-'ivy l. ahrrirvrrik, lt., ,D-ilirrriiri, l.. l,l1i7, Our tirst big class event, a play entitled, Princess O'Toole, was presented March l. lt was a brilliant, hilarious, and laughable comedy under the excellent and able direction of Mr. Beam. Coop :num 26 Tl-lE GREEN LIGHT' fSenior Playl Alfred Moyle. ramafic The Senior play, The Green Light, under the direction ot Mrs. Park was a mystery tull ot suspense, thrills and emotion. The Green Light was a bandit, who had been terrorizing the em- ployees and officials of the A F G N Railroad by steading all their valuable shipments. Every member ot the cast was suspected but the mystery was finally cleared up by Iimmy Vallon lTed Bealsi, the first suspect, and Hope Manning tElaine Bachmani, the night agent of the tracks. Laughs were supplied by Soapy Waters tDick Greyl, a negro dish washer. Alfred Moyle, Paul Folmar, lim Folmar, Leroy Anderson, Catherine Bunyak, Anne Terry, Rita Barnes and Eleanor Little. The stage man- agers, Oscar Rasdort and Michael Deliman, also did much to make the play a great success. The lunior Class began this year's dram- atic season at Cooper on December 19, 1945. They chose as their production Comin' Thru the Rye. This was a smash hit. The entire play centered around the American l-louse, a hotel in a small mid- western town. This provided shelter tor the passengers that were on the westbound bus when it became snowbound. These people kept Silas Stonebraker CThomas Larson? and his daughter, Libby tMaria Harveyi busy. The passengers ranged from the very comic to the most tragic. The play was packed full ot laughter, sus- pense and comedy. The thirteen characters, under the direction of Miss lones did their utmost to make this play the best yet. The Sophomore play, Princess O'Toole, under the direction ot Mr. Beam, closed the successful dramatic season at Cooper. The play proved to be the top hit of the season as shown by the ticket sales and pleasant com- ments which came our way. The story cen- tered around the mistaken identity of Princess O'Brian, a house maid tPau1ine Humenicki for The Highness Princess G'Toole who turned out to be nothing more than a mere puppy. Prin- cess O'Brian's employers, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Erwin tMarvin Larson and Mae Brolin? rented a summer home from Elbert Ross Uohn Humaneyi and his domineering wife, Minna CMargaret Iosephsoni. ln spite oi the anxiety and turmoil the play ended happily tor every- one. Other members of the cast included Carl Swanson, Dorothy Harter, Iohn Kuzilla, Rita Hartle, Agnes Reiter, Marguerite Beals and Alliene Gross. With the exception of a few vet- erans from last year, most of the volunteers knew very little cbout the art ot playing baseball. The team consisted of Gregg Watson, Edward O'Dell and Michael Stiultyz, three capable pitchers. The catchers position was held by lames Petter and Michael Lucas. The first base position was played very capably by Alfred Moyle. No one could stop a grounder like Ted Beals or lohn Humaney, who played second. At shortstop we had Edward Seaman, who couldnt be beat. At third base we had Oscar Rasdorf, who was also a grand hitter. ln the out, field we had able fly-catchers such as Richard Kephart, LeRoy Anderson, LeRoy Dingey and Robert Nearhood. flirtiit Row M.
