Changes and new experiences af Cooper fhis year were numerous. The changeover from modular fo fradifional scheduling was, in parf, responsible for fhe addifions and alferafions in and around Cooper. In previous years, modular scheduling provided fhe sfudenf wifh approximafely 40X, Independenf Sfua'y fime. However, some members of fhe sfudenf body were nof ufilizing fheir LS. fime properly, so a more fradifional schedule consisfing of an 8 period da y came info exisfence af Cooper and swepf away modular scheduling. The sfudenf was now making every efforf fo adiusf fo fhe new sysfem. There was no longer a variefy of classes in a day, or an abundance of free fime - during or affer school. The sfudenf was forced fo ufilize his fime and survive fhe rafher blah day via one lunch and free period. Advanfages come wifh . disadvanfages, fhough. Addifions like a Reading Laborafory and an all- elecfric fyping room were sef up fo improve fhe sfuclenfs ' skills. The Independenf Maferial Cenfers TIMCl were cenfralized for easier access fo fhe sfudenf. Films and fapes were also made available in fhe library. Oufdoor classrooms were mosfly used by fhe Arf, Phy Ed, and Science Deparfmenfs. Planfs and flowers planfea' in fhe arborefum lasf year blossomed and were observed by many. Also blossoming was Girls' Inferscholasfic Sporfs. Increasing sfa fe compefifion, along wifh more parficipafion resulfed in a growing number of female jocks af Cooper. Homecoming was anofher success in I 974. Wifh more acfivifies'available, fhe sfudenfs inferesfs were mef, and many more parh'cipa fed during homecoming week. Floafs were consfrucfed for fhe firsf time in years. To a Cooper sfua'enf, broadening was, in a sense, everyday life. Experiencing fhe new, and pushing on was a parf of I975.
