.Many Assembies Presented at rensic League. Susan Harwell was chosen Merry Andrew for the annual Merry Andrew assembly. The Accents were one of many assemblies presented this fall at Cooper. The Windiammers performed at an assembly sponsored by the National Fo- Fall was filled with many varied activities for Cooper students. Many paid assemblies were presented to raise money for different organiza- tions. Among the assemblies were the Flying Cats, the Accents, and the Windjammers. One of the main events of the season was the Merry Andrew Assembly. The assembly which is presented annually had a vaudeville theme this year. Also this year the senior class had an ugly man assembly. At this assembly Bill Mayfield was selected by a panel of iudges as the ugliest man at Cooper.

E716 South D121 Kiss MY WASH IS BRIGHTER THAN YOURS Bill Minter ad- mires the first place winner in the door contest. Winning door was The Talisman door. The South Did Rise was the headline which pro- claimed Cooper's victory over Abilene High School by a score of 14-9. Preparation for Friday night's game began on Mon- day morning when students started to paint and decorate their cars. Slogans such as Bye-Bye Birdies and Bomb Birdland covered the windows of all the cars. On Thursday afternoon there was a special pep- rally for the football boys at the fieldhouse. When Friday finally came, the great Cougar Spirit was in full swing. After a great pep-rally, Cooper High seniors marched around the school singing Dixie and chanting We're Number One . On Friday night, P. E. Shotwell Stadium was full to the brim. The Cooper section was a mass of yelling Cougars and bright red Confederate flags which waved the Cougars to victory. At the end of the game, the score- board showed that the Cooper Cougars were tied with the San Angelo Bobcats for first place in District 2-AAAA, and for the mighty Cooper Cougars, the football season of 1966 closed in a blaze of glory! WHO'S THE NUT SINGING YANKEE DOODLE? Seniors lead a march down the halls to boost spirit. l 1 . 5 WHO OPENED THE BIRD CAGE?
