6111155 Prrfplzecy Hi, Ethel, I am now lying here in my backyard taking a sunbath after re+ turning from my tour of France and some other parts of the United States. I was thrilled to hear that you are married, and have three lovely girls. I also heard that you teach at Cortez Peters in Washing-- ton, D. C. By the way, I was in Missouri during my first week of travel. There I saw Patricia Bell and Gloria Kirby. Gloria is a model at Alexander Mitchell's studio, and Patricia is teaching English to a group of foreign children. ' After visiting them, I had lunch at the Sanders restaurant which is owned and operated by Boston Sanders and Emma Sanders. Emma is also a waitress. My second stop was New York, and I stayed at the Stewart Broth- ers hotel 'which is owned-by James and Murphy Stewart. The next day I went on a tour. First I went to the Apollo. The big event for the day was about to take place. The man called the group the Royalettes, and was I surprised to know that it was Elvivian Barnes, Mary Holder, and Lylie Wall. After the program, I met Joe Jones. He told me, he was now professor at Howard University and he also said that Thomas Blaylock was living in New York and, is teaching Chemistry at the University. Instead of going back to the hotel, I went to Coney Island for dinner. As I approached the ferry, I saw the captain, Woodrow Barnes. While Woodrow was showing me on the ferry, I bumped into someone very unexpectedly - Private Detective John Merritt, who was working on a kidnap case. By that time we were on the island. Just asl was getting off the ferry I saw Lois Williamson. She is a hair stylist for the models of the Tan and Ebony Magazines. The next day I boarded a plane to France and I was surprised to see Robie Williams, the pilot of the plane. I was taken to my seat by Carrie Watkins, the hostess ofthe plane. The trip took only five hours. My arrival at France was a very good one. As I went to have my baggage checked from the baggage room I saw Paul Sanders, the manager of the Airport. He said he was married and his wife is working with the French Government. I was taken to Hotel Paris, which is located in the heart of Paris. As I was going up on the elevator, I met Florine Smith and her hus- band. They were on their way to the United States, therefore, I didn't have time to talk to her. My room was arranged very beautifully. Later I found that the arrangement was made by Maggie George and her affiliates. I was invited to dinner by one of my old friends whom I met when I was attending school in Germany. After eating dinner, we went back to my apartment, and talked about some of the things we did in school.

Next morning I was carried on a tour of France. As we were leav- ing the hotel, I saw a very exclusive-looking shop across the sueet. My friend andl went over. There I saw an old school mate, Hattie McNeil, standing in the window drawing some dress patterns. Natural- ly, I went over and talked about how things were since we hadn't seen each other since June 1961. She is married, and owns the Dress Shop. We had lunch at the French School and afterwards we were taken to the Principal's office. He told rne that Willie Wilson was his wife and taught English, and French. He showed us around. Across the corridor from Willie Wi1son's classroom, was Agnes Banks in the Home Economics Department. She has a real Cute set of twins. . I was told that the Harlem Globe Trotters were to play that night on TV. Since I used to be fond of the team, I decided thatl would watch the game. First of all, the announcer introduced the coach, Roy Bell, and said he had played ball with the Globe Trotters after completing his college career. He later became the coach. I left France at 8:00 o'clock. By 1:00 o'clock I was in Detroit and there I saw a great number of my old classmates. I bought a newspaper and there on the front page I saw Jesse Walker, Joe Adams, Clarence Tomlinson, and Bobby Cooley. They were going to appear in the Combo Band with Bobby and Clarence. I decided to go to the theater. Could you guess who was the owner and operator of the theater? James Richardson and Dorothy Hood, and they finally got married. Dorothy told me that Edith Barbour and Martha Lassiter were teaching business education classes at Mitchell's Business School owned by Lila Mitchell. She also said that Hattie Rowland is a seam- stress for a foreign designer. Rebecca Uzzell models dresses for Fashion Magazines, and fashion shows. It was simply fascinating to see so many of my old classmates. After going back to my hotel, I got a call from Carolyn Whitley, and she told me she is a social worker and her husband, a preacher. My vacation ends next week. I guess I told you I am a private secretary for a movie manager, who is my dear husband. Classmate of '61, Alice M. Hood
