COMMANDER DESTROYER SQUADRON SEVENTEEN Captain Fox, a native of Los Angeles, California, was com- missioned on 19 June 1942 upon graduation from the United States Xaval Academy, His first assignment to active dut} ' was in USS CHESTER (CA-27) followed by a tour in USS FRANKLIN (CV-13). Subsequently he served in the destroyers HAILEY (DD-556) and JOHN THO IASON (DD-760) as Gunnery Officer and MYLES C. FOX (DD-829) as Executive Officer. His command tours include PETERSON (DE-152), HOLLISTER (DD-788) and CAGAPON (AO-52). Captain Fox has served ashore at the NTIOTC Unit, Harvard University; the Naval Intelligence School, Anacostia; as Assistant U. S, Naval Attache, The Hague, Netherlands; Bureau of Naval Personnel; Staff, Commander in Chief Atlantic; in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations and in the Defense Intelligence Agency, Captain Fox holds the Bronze Star and theNa n, ' Commendation Medal both with the Combat V and the Joint Service Commen- dation ledal.
