'el il-FV' This year's Coolidge Bears Varsity Basketball Team had to follow last year's number one team, and the team knew that all along. The team handled the pressure quite well. The Bears consisted of six seniors, four juniors, one sophomore, and one freshman. Coach Partain said the team was young, with not much experience, but their goal was the same. Practices for basketball started for the Coolidge Bears on November first. Coolidge hosted and won the Coolidge Invitational Christmas Tournament, Senior Larry Brown was named most Valuable player of that tournament. The Bears were rated number one in the state for Class A. M.. L, Coolidge defended their title in the Christmas tournament this year by defeating Flowing Wellsi in the final game. Larry Brown received the M.V.P. award in the tournament. Flowing Wells received the sportsmanship award. Coolidge took first place, Flowing Wells took secondg third place went to Cilbert with the consolation prize going to Apache junction. 9 1.
