Mlviix MYRTLE MUNRO AGNES HUTCHINS Lending an ear to excellent harmony, and a voice to vibrant songs, the Music Department, with the help of over one-third ofthe student body, has become known city and state Wide. Under the capable supervision ofthe teachers, the students learn, among other things, not only how to sing and to recognize some composers by the type of song, but also to sight-read notes. A new and different class has been added this term in advanced harmony for students who have had outside study in piano and other instruments. fl l 1 Dick Shaink looks for his cue before beginning his Ho, ho, ho in The Night Before Christmas. Eaton, who taught at Cooley for 23 years in the Music and Mathematics Depart- ments, died on February 22, 1959. Teazcbizzg Basic Calculations' Whether figuring our sales tax as the merchant or counting up one's purchases as a customer, mathematics is constantly being used in everyday life. The Math Department teaches basic skills for all students and advanced calculations for the professional students. In step with this change, the Science Department offers courses that pre- pare students to live intelligently in a new, advanced world. From biology to chemistry, physics and physi- ology, one learns the mechanics of everything from flowers to chemicals, the human body, gravity and atoms. These courses are open to all students who wish to gain useful, important knowledge.
