Coaches, Yes, But Tepzchetrs First Under the able leadership of the teachers in the Health Department, Cooley students receive the exercise essen- tial for physical fitness, which, in turn, is necessary for mental fitness. Not only by teaching the fundamentals of the game but also by stressing the importance of team work, and the necessity of good sportsmanship, the coaches have helped to make Cooley's teams some of the best in the city. By developing an orderly, sequential reading and writing program, she has served thousands of young people well. In 1958-59, as before, Cooley students learned com- petency in writing, speaking, listening, and thinking in a department whose leader now retires. The Language Department is striving to promote better relations be- tween the United States and the rest of the world by olfering courses in Spanish, Latin, French, and even an extra course in Greek.
