Cooley's eight counselorsface a tremendous job every term, yet never have they let the students down. Knowing 425 stu- dents well enough to plan a program for each takes infinite skill and a deep interest in the wel- fare ofthe students. The individual attention the counselors somehow find time to give helps ease the Feeling of aloneness so real in a school the size of Cooley. The ex- pert guidance they give enables students to lind themselves and learn to relate themselves to others constructively. By developing an orderly, sequential reading and writing program, she has served thousands of young people well. In 1958-59, as before, Cooley students learned com- petency in writing, speaking, listening, and thinking in a department whose leader now retires.
