CLASS PROPHECY I wasworking as floor nurse at Mercy Hospital when I received a letter from an old classmate of mine, Norma Ruth Brown, inviting me to her new million dollar home for a weekend. It seems she had married some rich guy who died leaving her his fortune. I immediately accepted her invitation. Leaving my boarding house Friday evening, I saw a big moving van stop in front of the build- ing. In it were Doug Grubb and Tom Frye. They had bought a big trucking business. I hailed a taxi to the airport where I found Marilyn Everette working in the dining room. She informed me that Nancy Foster, who married just after graduation, had twin boys. I took a newspaper and a magazine with me to the plane, on which Gloria Miller was working as a stewardess. After we were in the air I glanced at the newspa per and on the front page was a picture of Jerry Call, who had invented a motorless automobile. I always wondered what the results of his reading all those hot-rod magazines in Mrs. Hick's Class would be. ln the comic section was a strip by Howard Phelps, intitled l'll Never Grow Up , starring Imogene, Little Orphan Annies' third cousin, and an article about another of the class of '55, Ralph Graves, who bought a big ranch in Arizona and had his brother farming for him. I then began glancing through the magazine and found an advertisement headed McCulloughs Filling Station. Working For Delano were Norman Bowers and Delano Spillman. Then I saw a picture of a new Cadillac designed by Paul Tokarz. When I got off the plane, someone tapped me on the shoulder and there was our Ole' class president, Bob Cook. He was invited to Norma Ruth's also. On the way there Bob said he had bought a drive-in diner and had Jeanette Beck cooking for him. No wonder he stopped working for his dad at Hilltop. When we arrived at Norma Ruth's we saw Johnny Williams and his wife, the former Glenda liames. Also present was Walt Head, who owned a big clothing store in New York. Shelby Spry and Colene Wagner were there also and were operating a chain of beauty salons in Washington. That night we went to an expensive looking club called The High Hat. Joe Swicegood owned it and Shelby Nail was working as hat check girl. When the floor show started, I was startled to find out that Irene Barnes was the club's vocal- ist. My biggest surprise came toward the close of the show, when a group called the Sta rrets appeared. Their star vocalist was none other than our own Soak Spry. Hearing from my classmates made the week-end my most enioyable one since I left C .H.S. in '55. BARBARA SAIN, Prophetess

CLASS HISTORY One August morning, four years ago, a group of 25 girls and 16 boys entered the doors of Cooleemee High School to spend some of their happiest years. The girls were stationed in Miss Mullis' class and the boys were under the supervision of Mrs. Bost. The class officers that year were: President, Aaron Spry, Vice-President, Barbara Gregory, Secretary, Doris Lewis and Treas- urer, Bobby Cook. We were very happy when Lavada Angell, Jean Carter and Doris Lewis, made the basketball team. We were also honored when two of our boys, Jerry Call and Delano McCullough, made the football team. We left school for a short vacation and entered the next year as Sophomares. Mr. Sink was our advisor. That year our class officers were: President, Douglas Grubb, Vice-President, Bobby Cook, Secretary, Jeanette Williams and Treasurer, Barbara Gregory. We were represented in sports this year when Delano McCullough and Edward Cook made the football team. Jean Carter and Doris Lewis were on the Varsity Basketball team. Johnny Williams was on the baseball team. Three of our girls and two boys were cheerleaders. The year passed before we knew it and soon we were Juniors. Our homeroom advisors for the year were Mr. Ward and Miss Rothrock. Our class officers were, President, Bobby Cook, Vice- President, Aaron Spry, Secretary, Lorene Wagner and Treasurer, Glenda liames. Jean Carter was again on the Varsity Basketball team. Johnny Williams, Edward Cook, Walter Head and Delano McCullough made the football team. We were honored when Barbara Sain and Colene Wagner were chosen as attendants for the May Day. Escorts were: Douglas Grubb, Bobby Cook and Johnny Williams. Aaron Spry, Johnny Williams and Edward Cook were on the baseball team. Through the patience and guidance of Mr. Sink and Miss Rothrock, we presented a three-act- comedy, The Campbells Are Coming. The most exciting event of this year was the Junior-Senior Banquet, at the Thomasville Woman's Club, Thomasville, North Carolina. The banquet was given in Nightclub style. The year of 1954 we entered the doors of Cooleemee High as Seniors. Mrs. June Hicks was our advisor. By this time our class had decreased to 25. Class officers were: President, Bobby Cook, Vice-President, Aaron Spry, Secretary, Irene Barnes and Treasurer, Colene Wagner. ln sports this year, Johnny Williams 'was on the Varsity Basketball team. Johnny Williams, Delano McCullough, Walter Head and Aaron Spry were on the footba I l team. Aaron Spry and Johnny Williams were also on the baseball team. We have two new students to graduate with us this year, Paul Tokartz from Wilmington, Dela- ware and lrene Barnes who' was a former classmate in the grammar grades. This year under the direction of Mrs. Hicks, we presented a three-act-comedy, Hillbilly Weddin . We are looking forward to our trip to Washington, the Junior-Senior Banquet and the Com- mencement Exercises. Leaving C.H.S. we realize what fun we have had and the knowledge we have gained in the past four years. As we travel through life I am sure we will always remember our dear old school C.H.S.
