PRUPHECY Sitting in my apartment at the end of a busy day at the office, I began won- dering what my dear classmates had succeeded in doing. Having plenty of time and not being on a party line, I decided to phone Bobby Edwards, a secretary in a very prominent law firm in a neighboring city. to see if he knew about any of them. You can imagine my surprise when he told me that Jean Wagner is a very skillful doctor at Johns Hopkins, and that Roy lVIcClannon, her fiance, is operating a successful pharmacy nearby. I wasn't shocked at all when he told me that Sid Carter, after completing a course at Davidson. has returned to Cooleemee High School and is teaching French. I-le informed me that Peggy Campbell married Bob and is now living in Wood- leaf. He said that Maxine Link is still trying to decide which one of the Needinore or Ellis Cross Road boys she wants. This was hardly a surprise either. Bud McClamrock and David Swain have gone to Hollywood to take Abbot and Costella's place. Clay Cook and Betty Shock- ley are also in Hollywood and Betty has received an Oscar for her many great performances. Since I had talked for an hour, I bid Bobby adieu, and proceeded to write Betsy Owens, a well known gossip and society writer, a letter. Upon receipt of her letter I found out about some more of the Class of '50, David Page. who had married during his Senior year, had taken over Charlie Bahnson's position as banker and Talmadge Cheek is keeping books for him. Dot Hodgin had. as everyone expected. married Grady, Jr., and is living happily in California, so as to be near Betty. Wanda Wilson, a famed popular song artist, and Doris Veach, a talented young pianist, are touring the United States together. Peggy VVyrick, after completing a course in Physical Education, has returned to Cooleemee High School and is coaching the State Champion girls' team of Cooleemee Hi. Marshall Clawson is still trying to get Peggy Ann to say yes. Louie Beck, even tho' he doesn't stand a chance, is trying to persuade Becky to set the date. DeFoie Shoaf, since he can find no one to have him, has decided to become a bachelor. Robert Munday is singing in the Stork Club. Pauline Hepler is known for her knowledge and great understanding of the Bible. At U. N. C. the fans have changed their cry from All the Way Choo Choo to t'All the Way Bo Bo. Howard Leonard is filling Art Weiner's place and is doing an excellent job. Jack Tutterow is running a sporting goods store and Bobby Kay is his faithful and trustworthy clerk. Edwin Nolley, having won many 4-H awards, is now county agent of Davie County. Kenneth Bailey and Donald Taylor, having started at the bottom, are now chief executives of the Erwin Cotton Mills. Frank Everhart is superintendent of Plant 3 in Cooleemee. Thus you have the prophecy of the Class of '50, This. as you see, is looking far into the future. NAN BOWERS, Prophet
