As a faithful sponsor of the iunior class, Mr. Booth has been the key figure in the production of the annual Jr.-Sr. Recep- tion. Many important details of this big event lie in his hands. He has the respon- sibility of placing the scenery, organizing the program, and planning the dance numbers. During an average school-day he teaches classes in American history, gov- ernment and geography. ln addition to this he directs the glee club. Because of his devotion and helpful- ness tothe student, we, the staff, do dedi- cate this 1960 Acorn to Mr. Mell E. Booth. if The Beta Tri-Hi-Y is one of the largest clubs and most active on campus, thanks to the leadership of Mrs. DeVane. She has served as a Y-Club advisor, tirelessly, for many years. Not only has she ad- vised the club as a whole but also stu- dents individually. She serves as one of the chief math teachers at Cook. Because of her readiness to aid stu- dents in their studies and in other ways, we, the staff, respectfully dedicate this 1960 Acorn to Mrs. James R. DeVane.

Faculty Twenty-six teachers make up the faculty at Cook. Not only are they teachers, but also they serve as club advisors, class advisors and direct many other worthwhile activities. Many years of training and experience are included in the quali- fications of the teachers at Cook. The scene above is taken from one of the math classes taught by Mrs. James R. DeVane.
