The first oiiicial act of the year was a class meeting where we assembled to elect class oiiicers and class advisers. We retained our helpful advisers, Miss Kealy and Mr. Linetty who successfully saw us through our first two years. We elected these oliicers: Preridenl .,.,, .,,, Q 1-QRALD HQGAN Vice Prcsiderfl .. .,.. EDWARD BEAVER Secretary ..., 4... N ORMA SNYDER Treasurer , . . .... JANE DILLMAN We were sorry to hear that six members of our class have disconitnued their studies at C.T.lH.S., reducing our number to fifty. The Hrst event on our calendar of social activities was a skating party held at Spring Brook Park. Despite the fact that it was an entirely new and different floor to what we were accustomed, everyone had a delightful time and it was a financial success. On September 30, a committee of students selected different rings for the class to vote on. We chose one, and on December 23, when we received them, everyone was well pleased. The Senior-Junior Prom, given by the Seniors for the Juniors, was held in the school auditorium on November 16. We wish to thank the Seniors for a very enjoyable evening. Next on our list was a dance held in the school auditorium on December 16. It was something new, a balloon dance. The decorations were entirely of many colored balloons. A large bag filled with balloons was the center decoration. When this was burst pandemonium reigned as each dancer tried to get as many balloons as pozsibleg some were diappointed. The B's orchestra of Centralia furnished the music. The affair was a social and linancial success. Before the Christmas holidays we sold pencils and paper with the school's emblem engraved on them. Everyone was pleased with his purchases. Our next activity was the selling of chances and the awarding of a silk quilt to the holder of the lucky number. At the drawing on February 12, Paul Zimmerman, a 10-A student, rewon this beautiful prize. Elaborate plans are now being made for the junior-Senior Prom to be held about May 6. Some- thing new is promised. To the Seniors wc extend our sincere congratulations and best wishes for their suc- cess in future undertakings. JOAN MARIE FENNESSY A i Ili: Ayig : ' ' grae . MISS MARGARET G. HEFFNER MR. DANIED l.. WELLER On,September 2, 1947, the members of the Sophomore Class entered the halls of Conyngham Township eager to increase their knowledge. Our class consisted of twenty-five girls and twenty- seven boys. We regret the losing of four of our members: Arlene Detrery, Wfilliam Hogan, Samuel Kreish- cr and Wilmer Wagner. We were glad to welcome two new members, Ann Berger and Patricia Reilly. The first Sophomore Class meeting of the year was held on September S. At this meeting we elect- ed our class officers and planned our Social affairs for the year. We sent invitations to the Sophomore Classes of all the surrounding school for our Fall Dance. This was one of the most outstanding social affairs of the term. On October Zl our class held a skating party at Springbrook Park. Students came from far and near by bus and truck. The rink was crowded and everyone had an exciting evening. On December ZZ, we chanced off a turkey for Christmas. George Preslock of Newark, New jersey, was the winner. For Easter we chanced off a large chocolate rabbit. Second prize was a smaller one. In April our spring dance, held in the auditorium, afforded us an evening of fun and our skating party was largely attended and enjoyed by everyone. A whine cake and a chocolate cake, baked by the Sophomores, were chanced off, and the winners ot the same said they were delicious. The members of our class are represented this year in the Dramatic, Press, Pep, and Visual Educa- tion Clubs and the various sports. The class thonks thc faculty for their gufdance and patience and our class advisers for helping to make our social affairs the successes they were. Our class extends congratulations to the Senior Class of 48 and wish them the best of sucess the world can give. DAWN RAKER 1-., in - 'gif X tiff Z ig- A Z Tn R . The build- ing of youtlfs spirit and the body is a contribution which girls' sports has always made to the American way of life. Since our girls are intensely interested in basketball, they have devoted a great deal of time in health classes for working out different plays in this sport. The girls' varsity'basketball has been discontinuedg the four grades in the high school now participate in intramurals which are played every Friday afternoon. These games are very exciting and each one ends up with a very close score. Thewinning team is presented with a medal. Other activities included in our health periods are table tennis, bad- minton, quoits, softball, hiking, archery, volley ball, and dancing. All girls' sports are under the capable supervision of our faithful physi- cal education instructor, Miss Loretta C. Horan. BARBARA RISHAR !'!
