Wrestling Team Comes In to Existence Conway High School had its first wrestling team ever during the l977-78 school year under Coach Dave Van Zile. Although most of the wrestlers knew nothing of the sport before the season began. they learned rapidly. There was tremendous improvement throughout the season. The team's five seniors - Tony Pineyro, Ron Overcash. Steve Sellers. Dennis Wyman. and Kevin Childs - showed a lot of leadership on the mat. Other members of the team who did a supe- rior job were Willie Love. Tracy Holland. Der- rick Watson. Robert Clardy, Earl Cromartie, Ron Ray. Mike Parnell. Darrell Overcash, Bryan Jenerrette. Hunter Jenkins. and Robert Cox. This year's competition was tough because of the experience of the other teams. With nine wres- tlers returning. Coach Van Zile expects a fine season next year. Wrestlers await the start of the match. Q The wrestling team in its pre-game warm-up. Mike Parnell is ready to pin his opponent.
