Science courses include physical science, biology, general science, chemistry, and physics. General science is taught by televi- sion and physics is taught by film. Not only do these classes strive to prepare adequately those who plan to go to college, but also try to impress upon those who are not going to college the importance of science in everyday life. Meeting the mathematical needs of stu- dents who are college-bound and the needs of those who are planning to enter the bus- iness world immediately following gradua- tion is the responsibility of the mathematics department. College preparatory courses include two years of elementary algebra, one year of plane geometry, and one semester each of advanced algebra and trigonometry. These are designed to produce scientific thinking and accuracy in practical situations. General mathematics courses offered are one year each of business mathematics, ap- plied mathematics, and bookkeeping. These courses provide an appliable knowledge with which to meet everyday needs.
