These men devote their time unselfishly to the task of formulating policies which guide the superintendent and principals in the smooth operation of our schools. To keep the Board informed, to seek advice from them on school problems, and to execute policies set forth by the Board is the job of the Superintendent. The Board and Superintendent combine efforts in numerous tasks-they submit budgets to the County Boardg plan for and approve the expenditures of all fundsg see that buildings are properly maintained and well keptg and study enrollments and population trends to estimate future school needs. One of the most important functions of the Board is to interpret the schools to the public. Members of the present Board are Odell Marshg Jim Glasgowg Eugene Proctorg Arthur Smith, superintendentg Robert Burroughsg Henry Brooksg and S. P. Hawes. Not pictured is Jesse Lee.

Directing the overall school program is the main responsibility of the principal and assist- ant principal. Through a conference with par- ents and students, students are assisted in the selection of subject matter, taking into con- sideration interests and intelligence. Discipline and attendance are administered through this office, as well as extra curricular activities, athletics, clubs, and assembly pro- grams. 73
