Class of 1950 In the fall of 38 , a group of bewildered children stood and gazed at the huge building before them. Miss Temple met us at the door and started us on our learning of readin9 , ritin ', and rithmetic . The rest of our grade teachers added to our knowledge and prepared us for the remaining six years of school. Our grade teachers were Mrs. Norma Carey, second grade: Mrs. Helen Smith, third grade: Miss Jessie Driver, fourth grade: Mrs. Rema Mohr, fifth grade: and Miss Jessie Driver again as our sixth grade teacher, The seventh grade proved to be a thrilling experience for all of us. Miss Fitch was our class sponsor. In the eighth grade, Mr. Edwards took us in hand. The eighth grade tests were the big event of the year, and several members of our class received high honors, The ninth grade was the year we all looked forward to, when we would go into high school. We were entertained by the Sophornores at an initiation party. After that, we felt that we were ready for anything. Mrs. Hofer was our class spon- sor that year. In the Sophomore year, our class sponsor was Mr. Sawmiller. We had an opportunity to initiate the Freshmen that year. Mr., Alexander was our class sponsor for the Junior year. This year we started thinking of ways to make money for the prom and the Senior trip. Then we started planning the prom. We chose Treasure Island as our theme. We spent a great deal of time and work on it, and felt that it was a great success. Then the big year finally arrived., We were still thinking of ways to make money for the class trip. Mr. Linn was our class sponsor, and Bob Schaadt, who had been class president for the other three years, was re -elected again. We are planning to go the Washington D. C. for our class trip, Now, as we are looking toward our Commencement and the close of our life at school, we think of the good times that we have had here at Convoy High, and of how we are going to miss it after we are out of school., 12
