For some time the crystal ball produced no picture, but finally a vision which seems constantly to change flashes before me. As I watch this rapidly changing scene, I realize that I am back in dear old Convoy. On a sign in front of a huge establishment I read the name, Paul Bricker, Undertaker. The crowd seems to be going places! Of course they are attending the opening of a new city hall. During the moments that I wait for the picture, I search the audience for familiar faces. Rewarded, I see Betty Mae and Lola talking earnestly about their new homes. Betty is enthusiastically relating her plans for raising money for the Ladies Aid So- ciety. Now, Esther Thornell joins them and tells of her trials while running a dairy. The hall darkens and on the screen flashes News of The Day. One picture interested me for it was Refa Ryan, the new tennis champion, shaking hands with her defeated opponent. Parading across the canvas now I recognize Mary Terry, a model, showing the new modes of fashion created by Roberta Muntzinger, the famous designer. Finally the premier performance of Taming of the Shrew comes on with Gordon Miller starred in the leading role. Supporting his brilliant lead is the world renowned bathing beauty Lila Lowry. Suddenly the vision is gone and replacing it I see a waiting room in a beauty salon. The tall girl working with a finger wave over there is surely my old friend Delvena. Near her at a table sits Irene Schaadt, giving a manicure to Pauline Stephen- son. Pauline is telling Irene about her new interior decorating business, while Irene chimes in with the news that Betty Young, the successful head of a childrens home, has just written her a letter saying that the inseparable Hall boys have followed their parents' advice and are coining money in the coal business. Irene also told Pauline that Junior Lehr has at last realized his dream of being a curator in a mu- seum of Natural History. Underneath a drier I glimpse Virginia Baker, whose pretty hands aid her in selling rings for the company which she represents. The picture fades and another takes its place. I seem to be in the Far West. Before me I see a tall girl dressed in a becoming riding habit talking to an intelligent looking man slightly gray at the temples. Of course it can be no other than Garnett Sowers, owner of a famous dude ranch, and her guest, judge Robert Friedly. The crystal fades and Madame Zargari impatiently reaches forth her pudgy fingers to grasp the silver which I offer for the service of her crystal ball. -CHAROLD ZINN. Page Twenty-five

Junior Cruise As the trans-oceanic liner, C.I-LS., pulled anchor at our third port of call in September 1939, thirty-seven juniors occupied her luxurious cabins. The ship,s officers, Captain Marlin Thomas, First Mate Robert Glancy, and Second Mate Joyce Gardner, tried in true seaman fashion to make our voyage a pleasant one. To beguile the hours at sea eleven of our number, early in November, turned to drama and delighted us with a play, NollJing But Ike TruflJ . Throughout the entire voyage we enjoyed the various activities-games, fellowship, music, literature-which the ship provided. Although many of our days at sea were spent by idling away the moments, we did, how- ever, try our hands at numerous mental tests. Cablegram reports from other ships showed that we did not fall behind others who tried them. Climaxin g all other entertainment on the voyage was the Captain's dinner honoring the noble Seniors. As we slowly steamed up to our last port, we searched for some memento which might, in years to come, remind us of our pleasant cruise and which might set us apart from other men in society. At last a gracefully designed ring, bearing the crest of our liner, C.I-I.S., was selected and purchased by every member aboard. In May at the request of Mr. Dolphin, the ship's crew let down the gang- plank, and everyone went happily on his way, calling Bon Voyage to his shipmates. -ARLINE RACER. MB.
