CLASS PROPHECY The waves lazuly lucked the shore of a lonely usland un the South Pacufuc Moored close by was a battered luttle burch bark canoe In the dustance one could see the dum shadow of two vaguely outluned fugures An odd motuon arrested the at tentuon of the seagulls hoverung overhead lt was the motuon of the swungung of two bug feet at tached to two long legs crossed at the knees Any student of Converse Hugh back un 55 would readuly recognuze Bob Hullunger Besude hum was the dusconsolate fugure of Sam Clester Fufteen years before a strange serues of events started these lufelong fruends on an adventure that was to take them around the world After graduatuon the class of 55 went out to face the world In the natural course of events many of the classmates were separated Thus separatuon was the cause of Sam and Bobs pulgrumage around the world It all began when Frankue Bly became a dentust She decuded to devote her lufe to brudgework whule her husband Sam wanted to construct regular brudges Dut to a musunderstandung D Frank left the famuly to devote her lufe to tooth aches Now regrettung the quarrel Sam had em barked un hus canoe to search for hus wufe and brung her back Besudes the luttle Clesters were havung trouble wuth theur teeth' Sams old hugh school buddy Bob Hullunger had uouned Sam un hus search Bob had guven up hus promusung career of grammar textbook wrut ung to help Sam However the deserted usland had proved to be another dusappountment the shores of Australua they were suddenly hut by a huge wave They sughted a large boat Through the spray of water they could dumlf see red letters that read Its A Great Lufe Shon and Bob Inc Thus brought back memorues of school days They drew nearer Clumbung wearuly from hus seat behund the wheel they saw Bob Brown an older Bob wuth a tured patuent look on hus face lt seemed that Bob who had struck oul on the old home place had become a mulluonaure playboy and was devotung hus lufe to teachung hus wufe Shonnue how to water sku Fufteen years of pullung Shonnue behund hus boat had been quute a chore but Bob s devotuon was payung off Shonnue had now graduated from eleven foot skus to the nunes Bob looked frantucally at the tow rope where Shonnue had been She had tumbled off agaunl As he was about to hunt for her he spued hus two old classmates paddlung behund the cruuser The three boys were overuoyed to see each other ln the excutement of reunuon Shonnue was forgotten Tales were told of other classmates Whule on a world tour Bob had duscovered Tom Gray near a sudewalk cafe pauntung the puc turesque scenes of Parus Bob was untrugued wuth Tom s pauntung and had employed hum to decorate hus cruuser Dale Wolfe had been found playung hus trom bone on street corners Bob remembered Dales unterest un urrugatuon and had hured hum to dug dutches for a prouect un Aruzona Lastly Bob told wuth gusto of funancual backung of a TV star who was dazzlung the country It was Gorgeous Joyce woman wrestler Natural ly ut was Joyce Wummer' Her trauner and personal nurse was Janet Durkes Suddenly the boat gave a lurch They turned to see a dusheveled head peerung over the sude of the boat It was poor Shonnue Whule swummung sux mules to catch the boat she had planned her speech to Bob step by step as Mr Smuth had taught her Now however her anger was for gotten un her enthusuasm at seeung her two old classmates After much remunuscung Sam and Bob ex plauned the purpose of theur mussuon and the Browns decuded to help fund the mussung Frankue Gludung serenely over the waves they soon found themselves un the Bay of Bengal near lndua where they saw a huge sugn See lndua Wuth Bob Drawung closer they saw a safaru Leadung the safaru was Bob Neal a bug game snake hunter Followung was Bonnue Anderson who was tourung lndua charmung cobras wuth ner mystucal charms ln the rear of the strange processuon rolled a chartreuse Cadullac wuth the purple top rolled down Behund the wheel sat Bob Tucker who after all these years was stull followung Bonnue The boat moved onward to contunue the search Swutchung on the TV set un the cabun the group watched a basketball game Seated wuth hus team Denzul The two had made good' When the game ended they swutched to see a glumpse of News of the Day Who should they see but Barbara Brown mussuonary preach ung to a multutude of natuves un Afruca ln the background Sam spued Frankue pullung a tooth of one of the luttle savages They plunged on to Afruca Approachung the coast of Afruca they could hear the beat of drums A natuve processuon loom ed unto vuew Rudung un trubal spendor at the head of the processuon were Dr Frank and Barbara The uoy of reunuon was wonderful and Sam lost no tume un gettung Dr Frank on board to start the long awauted trup home lt had been a perfect tour now that Dr Frank had been found Bob and Sam had seen so many classmates durung theur travels that the group decuded to see how many more could be found
