Shirley Fansler by the way Bob Hunter Raymond Stepler Lynn McClain Loves to lltterbug they say These three boys with courage rare Fine exercise to keep the waistline slim For Uncle Sam have done their share There is neat Virginia Haynes And we are glad to have them back again She has looks as well as brains Now our high school days are over -ligrfenglljgyeileslqagri ::2i?EHl1he Shelf And although we ve been in clover Slings the hash at Bessie s Inn She s really quite a tasty dish herself And 'rl OU' hearls a lender leelmg Will forevermore come stealing Three more boys we re glad to tell When we think about our school days that are Are on our Senior list as well past By Mrs Ovid Doan Glass flzstary On August 28 1950 twenty nine students became known as Green Freshmen at CHS They were Jerry Arrick Pat Ballinger John Blake Gene Bowman Jackie Carey Jeannette Clair Norma Clevenger Louise Collins June Crandall Gene Cunmngham Rosemary Desisto Nancy Douglass Carolyn Durkes Shirley Fansler Tom Gray Maxine Grabow Virginia Haynes Joyce Hale Shirlev Hogan June Roy Oyler Joyce Rogers Virginia Scott and Ray Welch Pat Ballinger was an at tendant to the Bordermen Relay s Queen At the beginning of our sophomore year Louise Collins June Hulbert Joyce Hale and Virginia Scott withdrew Christine Coppock Arlene Fenstermaker Nor eda Marr Linda Hyman and Cecil Hyman enrolled during the year bringing our number to thirty Christine Coppock was an attendant to the Bordermen Relays Queen she was also elected cheerleader Our lunlor year finally rolled around and we entered it with high spirits Mova line Johnson Roy Oyler Shirley Hogan and Maxine Grabow withdrew from the class Noreda Marr moved to Kentucky later in the year Pat Ballinger was elected President Jeannette Clair Vice President Virginia Haynes Secretary and Nancy Douglass Treasurer Our sponsor was Miss Jean Hoover Our prolects included selling ice cream and refreshments at the ball games- a magazine drive an ice cream social and a scrap drive. We sponsored several skating parties Our class play The Boy Who Could See was under the direction of Mrs Kesler This pro- vided much fun and stage experience for us. The big thrill of the year was the arrival of our class rings Shirley Fansler Reta Kling and Shirley Miller were elected cheerleaders. Jeannette Clair was chosen Bordermen Relays Queen and Joyce Rogers was one of her attendants. The iunior-senior reception was held in the Honeywell Memorial building in Wabash. At the beginning of our senior year Noreda Marr was back Shortly after school opened however she moved to Kentucky. Ronald Rees Lynn McClain and Ray- mond Stepler re-entered school and became members of our class. John Miller was elected President- Gene Bowman Vice President- Virginia Haynes Secretary- and Shirley Fansler Treasurer. Chrsitine Coppock was elected one of the cheer- leaders We chose The Antics of Andrew for our class play. lt was directed by Mr. Smith. Our graduation pictures were taken in November at the Waltz Studio in Peru. Jackie Carey was hostess for our Christmas party Jerry Arrick Pat Bal- linger Jackie Carey Jeannette Clair Norma Clevenger Gene Cunningham Caro- lyn Durkes Shirley Fansler Virginia Haynes Reta Kling John Miller John Blake Joyce Rogers and June Crandall completed twelve years in Converse-Jackson Township School Bob Hunter and Dean Rogers were also members of the 1954 graduating class.
