WGRD . . . those that are COLD . . . those that are VVARIW. The first class that has seen four warring years has known them both. Our great cold shadow has been the war itself . . . ominous . . . black .Q . . ever present. The shadow came one day that was as cold as the war itself. It was black the first time it touched the life here, it grew blacker as it wove itself in and out of that life, allowing nothing to remain untouched, unchilled. But there were warm shadows, too. No single one was so great as our cold shadow. But the tumbled mass of small warm shadows grew, too-grew until it was the greater of the two. The warm mass was greater than the cold one. We present here to you our Warm shadows: the shadows of great oaks, the shadow of green ivy leaves on old brick, the shadow of a froz un- tain, the shadow of sensitive hands on a White keyboard, the sha ow of n old friend, the shadow of birds-great and small, the shado of glass s left upon a book, the shadow of a figure in a cap and gown, th shadow o. a tall, straight tower, the shadows of dancing figures on the sn w. lx Q AND or 'R rs
