r - Finally Fitting In The Sophomores moved into the main building and made their presence known. Sophomore (sofa mof) — A student in the second year of a four year high school. Many students looked at the position of sophomore as just another step in hfe that had to be taken. They felt the year had to be just like the pas t classes had been, like a definition in a dictionary — boring. The class of ' 86, however, charged into the school year sporting their new cars, and displaying an attitude of this is going to be the best year ever. They realized that there probably wouldn ' t be a prom night or class ring, yet they looked upon the new year with a sense of excitement, never seen before. The sophomores had a blast at pep rallies, no matter how many spirit sticks they won. The respon- sibilities that were placed upon their shoulders were readi- ly accepted, as they helped to keep their part of the flame buring strong for Conroe High. Fresh Fish As the seniors of 1987 moved in, a new dimension was added to the already unique student body. As the squealing sounds of brakes filled the crisp morning air, the big, yellow buses were brought to an abrupt halt and a new dimension of the CHS student body stepped off. It was the senior class of 1987. Upon entering the halls of CHS there was much bewilder- ment. After all, everything was new to them, an entirely dif- ferent experience from their good old junior high days. Before long the new year swung into full motion, carrying the freshman right along with it. As soon as they settled into the Fish tank they were hit with their first pep-rally. Not only were the pep-rallies exciting events each Friday but they were also a chance for the freshman to prove that they too, had tiger spirit. And they did just that. As the year progressed, the freshman participated in many CHS activities. Teaming up with the seniors to decorate the main hall for Homecoming in a tribute to the class of 1941 was once such activity. As their first year of high school drew to a close, the freshmen were anxious for summer. A year of experience was behind them and they had three more to look forward to. Their next year meant they could enter the main building and eat in the main cafeteria. This step would elevate them to sophomores; they would no longer be called fish.
