VOLLEYBALL I Young Spikers Strive for State As the Tigerette Volleyball team looked ahead to the season in early August, mak- ing the playoffs was a goal that they knew would be difficult to attain. Led by senior Sonia West and junior Kelli Kellen, they started the season disappointingly, but the Tigerettes re- bounded for a strong showing in the Conroe Tournament. As they star ted district play the playoff goal seemed to be getting closer and closer to a reality. However, two heartbreaking losses to arch-rival McCuUough and District Champ Westfield ended the dream and the season as well. Despite not making the playoffs, the Tigerettes learned a lot about themselves and their chances next year. Their pride and determination carried a team not even mention- ed before the season to contend for a playoff spot. Annette Putman said, The dedication was there. This is by far the greatest team effort I have ever been a part of With the experience and depth returning to next year ' s squad, things will be looking up for Tigerette Volleyball.
