22 - Activities Comfortably dressed in western wear, Larry Rogers and Ross Williams confirm the general clothing trend for guys. From overalls to designer baggies, our Trend Setters Atte ntion-getter v 1980-81 school year encountered a large variety of apparel. The disco look of past years gave way to a new and fashionable line of western wear for guys and girls, while calf-length dresses took a back seat to leggier slit skirts. This was the year of a western boom, with the movie, Urban Cowboy, setting the trend. The silver screen glittered with comedy flicks and popular remakes of old favorites, and we flocked to the theaters for weekend entertainment. Changes evolved on the national level as well, and 1981 saw the inauguration of our new president, Ronald Reagan. The issue concerning the hostage crisis and the deaths of such famous figures as Steve McQueen, .lohn Lennon, and Colonel Sanders were met with nationwide disap- pointment. Despite the serious upsets, stu- dent life at Conroe High remained content with its wild weekends and rigorous routine. Not necessarily for dirty work, overalls are proven by Deann Buckalew to be popular school wear as well.
