Since we have covered the great space between the first lap and the finish line, We believe that the Fish might profit by our mistakes. lt's a good idea to chew gum only when Skipper or Mr. Gilpin are not looking. ' Niger court more than ten minutes between the periods. Try to remember when your classes come so that you won't have to dash to your locker more than ten times a day. Remember, girls, the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. This is a good way to rate with Mr. Parish. Stanley Golden, learn not to say, l seen, before Mr. Cloninger gets you. Betty lane Holden, stay as sweet as you are, Betty Williams, wake up and live, you will like it. Stay as charming as you are, Buddy Mark Everett, but let some one else have his way occasionally. Martha Rae Boles, your being a typical Freshman has been appreciable, but after this year, develop a quieter nature. Mickey Hobbs, your intelligence is too becoming. Add a little of the spice of life, and you will be an ideal sophomore. Be more like your brother, Nan Tipton. L. B. Morrism, don't let your love affairs get you down. Gordon Clark, be more manly and stop Dan Alley, who is beating your time with Frankie Griffith. Leroy Dehtan, you have great possibilities. Take advantage of them. Billy Ferguson, you'll be Bur next tennis star if you keep up the good work. Melvin Heathman, be very cautious when courting these upper classrnen. They might build you up, but only for a big letdown. Milton Buckholtz, watch your step. Don't let that Senior, Cam Harrell, talk you into too much. - Now for our sign off notes l'fere's a little collective counsel: You will be expected to play hookey on such days, as April Fool's.Df and San lacinto day: but, if you don't, you will be amply rewarded. lf -. woe is you and only a miracle can save you. ,gqfti We guarantee, that if you follow the above advice religiously, stu ' ' ' lessons, go to bed before ten o'clock every night, and take your shcte C .e castor oil, you will be a happy, healthful, honor student-a l rs . , ', healthful, and honored as those shining examples from whom T vc 1 ice, X . His lightning end runs and his bullet-like passes dazzled his opponents throughout the entire season. 'A' Hoyle Simes, better known on the campus during football season as Ole Reliable, proved himself to be a solid bulk of humanity which was impreg- nahle to all advances Cenemy advancesl and also that it was an exceedingly favorable idea for his opponents to keep the ball on the ground -that is, if they wanted to keep possession of it. 'A' E. L. Hardy, Harden to the students, is known not only as a football player, but as a darn good all-around athlete. His football abilities are too numerous to lie listed, His basketball playing is excellent. His track? Well, he makes the-rn. 'A' Bob Looney, playing his last year Conroe High School, acquired a rept tion comparable to that of an Al'-f nw ican. His mighty kicks kept the e' err always at its own goal t if wr V hind it. His tackles stand and his blocl' whom he was bloclf ' a imously chosen , ' r mentioned as All C 1 4 :nf 'raw' h. Kenneth ' ' a veritab power pl the best r most of h statement body blo Bill Berry, at right tackle, made his last year of football for Conroe High School a superb one. Coach would say that he was only a cog in the machin- ery, but we say, what a cog! it , Wilbur Isbell is another all-around athlete who excels, not only in football, but in track, baseball, and basketball as well. His ability to pull down Pow- der's bullet-like passes was often mi' raculous. 'A' Claude Niederhoier was the Little Caesar of the team. When unable to go through the opponents' line-which was indeed seldom---he went under it. ir Ed Ferguson, Blondie to the girls, seemed to get enjoyment out of seeing how hard and how fast he could tackle his opponents. He is also quite gifted in the gentle art of being able to knock a little white pill across a net continuous- ly until his opponent doesn't get it back over. 'A' Charles CCharleyD Vanderburg is what, in these days, is known as a darn good 'ttball player. His offensive drives, . ten everything else had tailed, were .ways good for yardage. His deten- we-backing work stopped many a .before it had started. J f i was Bob Looney's 'i 1 Longview game, 'rnitation of the f tlso said to be vid put 'ern 1 . Many a hole was sud- denly filled with his bulk when it ap- peared inevitable that the opposing team's ball carrier would break through for precious yardage. 'A' Torn Dean promises to be a second Teddy Sims in his Iunior and Senior years. He saw plenty of action this season and undoubtedly will see more in the following years. ir Harold Barfield was the gentleman who went through so many opponents' lines last year as if they were com- posed of nothing more than Houston football players. His playing next year promises to surpass that of this year fwhich will be going somel. ir Clyde Brooke, the fair-haired boy of the gridiron warriors, seems to make a specialty of intercepting passes and run- ning them back for touchdowns. With a little more experience under his belt, he is going to cause plenty of trouble on foreign gridirons. 'k Robert Price, substitute right tackle, proved his worth in the Conroe-Robe: town game, when Niederhofer was out with flu. He proved that he could take it as well as dish it out.
