If. A HIGH SCHOOL LASSIE. Us this You?J As I close my eyes to outside view, I take my pen for surely to review, The details of a lassie fair and bright VVho God set out as a shining light. Ch, those long and glossy locks That thou do tie upon thy neck in knots, Those rosy lips, so sweet a smile, Though it stretches miles and miles. Those pearly teeth thou dost reveal Because thy lips cannot conceal, Because always outward they persist, And for gossip thou insist. To all the world she lends a voice and ear- Just to gossip there and here. Here and there the news she spreads, School gossip from her heart she sheds. Here and there the news so scatteredg She sends it out with thoughts so shattered It takes a brilliant minded lawyer To piece the thoughts so slaughtered. Self conscience was no name to her, I tell. The speech she wished to say ne'er fell, Her face would turn a ghastly pale, She'd pull at her dress so frail. Sheld ,catch her breath and simply say, I can't. Then walk down the isle so near in faint, And sympathetic tears the class would drop, So glad they were because she had to stop. Now if this poem she finds I wrote, A burden on my heart I'l,l tote, Because she'll never borrow again my fountain Which to all the stuirlents I like to lend. pen, if 'X l 'Z+'X'+Z+-X+4X+fX4+X'+I X+'X'+Z'+X0!+'B+I+'X+'Z'+Z0Xf+X+'Z+6 X'+Z0X+i X+'Z+'!
