FOOTBALL Starting th year with 'ily two r gu ar th Cowboys ca e through with a highly successful s ason ln heir firs garn th C wboys played Brown ng at Browning and went down to defeat l9 14 at the hands of the rn re experienc a lndians Playing th ir next gante at home the Cowb ys subdued their ancien rival Shelby 206 Iourneying to Port Bentdn for th ir only day game of the season the Cowboys roped the haples Longhorns 3l 0 in a rather slow ball game The Cowboys tangled with the Cut Bank Wolves the next week on their own field ln a fiercely conte ted battle Conrad finally emerged victor on the long end of a l3 6 score and as the gun sounded they were driving for another touchdown The Cowboys last scheduled game was with the undefeated Cho eau Bulldogs who were leading the conference D1splay1ng a great brand of foot three touchdowns themselves As Chateau had not completed their schedule this left Browning and Conrad tied for the conference lead Conrad 2l Choteau 0 The Indians and Cowboys staged one of the closest and most exciting games ever witnessed in the district for some time The lndtans drew first blood after the opening kickoff and led 70 Early in the third quarter the Cowboys stripped of an overconfidence which had pervaded their first half play retaliated quickly with two touchdowns and led 127 going into the fourth quarter Relaxing somewhat they let the Indians drive over another touchdown to make the score read Browning l4 Conrad lZ With five minutes to go the Cowboys began another drive and went to the Browning ten yard line Then as it seemed they were going to snatch victory from defeat they muffed a play and a fleet lndian stole the ball and ran ninety yards for a touchdown Browning 2l Conrad l2 FOOTBALL SQUAD Ralph Hales rounding out four years of football alternated at fullback and tackle playing stellar ball in both positions Ralph weighed lB5 lbs He called signals for the boys also Shelton Iones completing his third year did a swell rob at tackl Shelton we ghed l70 lbs Iohn Van Bronkhorst l53 lb enior plugged the cent r hole Not many aot by lohnny Emmet Embody 170 ll' senior end play d bang up ball all the way 4 I e ' or e l s e l K . 1 ' ' e . . t ' t .te e o i.
