And suddenly ... The Church was born. After three years of cultivation, the soil was ready; The body of our Lord had been sown in the earth, and arose, and ascended. With it, came forth much fruit: About three thousand souls were added to the Church that day. And - They continued stedfastly in the apostles ' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. A miracle was wrought on a lame man. Their leaders were imprisoned, and questioned: By what power, or by what name, have ye done this ? They replied: Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ ... Their enemies were stunned: Indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them . . . and we cannot deny it . . . let us straitly threaten them ... But they continued: And when they had prayed , the place was shaken . . . and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And still it continues: At CBC we continue in the tradition of that Name, continuing to preach, teach, listen, and pray in that Name . . . looking to that Day when the one who bears that Name will be revealed in fire . . . And as well-oiled clockwork, you taught us to set our lives to consistent discipleship. Your unpretentious appearance; your comeliness was evident to all . . . (John 15:9) Our devoted leader President John E. Klemin stood at the helm of CBC administrative responsibility. True and continuing success for the Lord is achieved by multiplying one- self in the lives of others. Our Pres- ident and his wife, John and Ruby Klemin, have shown their concern for young people by doing just that. One senior expressed that their lives have encouraged him to keep pressing on for the Lord. A junior told how their real insight into young people influ- enced his decision to come to CBC. A freshman felt encouraged to seek the Lord for a deeper experience. With ministries such as those of Bro- ther and Sister Klemin, CBC will con- tinue to produce high-calibre Chris- tian workers. (Romans 2:7) Christian Service Activities Outreach Columbia Villa, a city housing development about three miles from Conquerors Bible College, heard theTruth this year. Every Monday and Friday afternoon, teams of students and faculty members visited the Villa with tracts and a personal presentation of the Gospel. Those people we contacted during the day were invited to attend an evangelistic service on Monday night. Both Christian Education and Ministerial students got involved as our young preachers ministered the Word, and our education majors taught a children ' s class at the Villa ' s recreation center. When we all get to heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be. . . Both young and old joined in the joy of the Lord as another rest home service began in song. The radiance of the Holy Spirit shone upon both generations as they testified of His work in their lives. These meetings were sponsored by the Ministerial Student Association at two locations with the purpose of winning the elderly to Christ and involving students in a creative outreach. pC P- i? „rors Bible College Conquerors , ,-tie C . inribard St. 203 Park Services Bes «gll ttve Con ' rtiriit. eat. be turned c - rks and M -—  - k thl , p, « - s.. .: park, _,__-. „ v ,,, jfc$f Street Meetings Excitement gripped us as we stood on the streets of Port- land to sing, pray, worship and testify about our Lord. We saw, felt, and responded to the cry of Portland ' s lost souls. Those prospects who seemed so hardened and defiant were often the ones who broke down in tears of repentance. We found them sitting on park benches, standing on street corners, and even lying on lawns. They came from all walks of life; and we mingled among them with tracts and a personal witness of the truth! And the same time there arose no small stir about that way (Acts 19:23). i I ;: Biinii in iff Summer Involvement INTERNATIONAL YOUTH CORPS Seoul , Korea On August 11, a group of enthusiastic young people gathered at Los Angeles International Airport to board a flight to Seoul, Korea. Among them were five CBC students: Carmen Kelley, Gaylene Novak, Mike Tuttle, Brenda Burgus and Suson Fennell. Their ad- venture, consisting of two weeks of personal evangelism, a prayer re- treat, and street work, brought them in direct contact with Korea ' s souls. Before returning home, the IYC team and the young people of the Korean Pentecostal Church had passed ' out over 200,000 tracts in Seoul. MISSIONARY HELPER Phil ippines During his 1974 summer stay near Manila, Tom Bracken was privileged to work for two experienced mission- aries: Field Supervisor Carl Adams and Gordon Mallory. Tom ' s first ex- posure to the Philippines was in the Navy. Two years after his discharge, he came to Bible college where a de- sire grew within him to return. After the Foreign Missions Division ap- proved his application for missionary helper, he made the personal sacri- fices to finance his own trip. Mis- sionary life became a reality to him as he preached, taught a youth class, ran errands, and even baby-sat. Foreign Missions Con ven tion Ninety-four percent of what Jesus died for is outside the United States. Having presented that fact, Brother Don Fisher of the Overseas Ministries Department proceeded to tell us about the qual- ifications and procedures for mis- sionary appointment. With him were European field Superinten- dent Hulon Myre, and Wynn Drost, outgoing missionary to El Salva- dor. Their first-hand accounts challenged us to prepare ourselves NOW for the tasks that surely must lie ahead. Guest Speakers John Bussel I Stanley Chambers Mark Wachstetter Robert Sparks Alan L. The Student Council concluded the business affairs of the 1974-75 student body. Reminding us of His imminency, the CBC Chair proclaimed that Jesus Is Coming . In keeping with the tenor of this year, the presentations by both the CBC Choir and Choralaires were evangelistic. Each group used a completely different type of music; however, the outreach was the same. The Choralaires, CBC ' s travelling Choir, presented the gospel in song and testimony, climaxing their services with the call to Rise and Be Saved in the Name of Jesus. Their ministry proved to be a blessing as they toured through Idaho during the spring break. As a result of these services, a number were baptized in Jesus ' Name and some received the Holy Ghost. They also ministered in the churches in and around Portland, and enjoyed the blessing of God in the services. The CBC Choir experienced a first in the history of the school. They presented John W. Peterson ' s musical, Jesus is Coming, accompanied by a professionally-recorded sound-track. It was a thrilling- musical happening for the choir, and the musical was received very well by the six churches in which it was presented. Kneeling: Norm Rutzen, Mike Tuttle. Members were also exposed to the deaf ministry and encouraged to develop their talents for the spreading of the Gospel. Throughout the year, SCEA members taught a Children ' s Hour to complement the weekly service at Columbia Villa and assisted with teaching seminars at Aberdeen, Washington, and Oregon City, Oregon. (Acts 2:42) Get- Acquainted Social On Monday evening, September 16, we gath- ered in the dining hall for a time of fun, fellow- ship, and introductions. The evening pro- gressed rapidly with humorous skits, ice- breakers, and musical talent. After intro- ducing the faculty, our college president, John Klemin, gave a short message entitled Chal- lenged by Changes. He expressed his feeling that this would be a year of changes both for himself and for us. He challenged us to accept those changes and to let God do something special for our lives. In the closing prayer we dedicated ourselves to doing the will of the Lord. Pp Ensign Pram o tian ) Skits Thos e jokes about CBC ' s good ' ole leaky roof will come to a halt when the re-roofing job is completed this summer. The profits from this year ' s Ensign drive bought the rolled min- eral-surface roofing needed for a few hard-working students and staff mem- bers to finish the task. May CBC have many drip-free years ! t Talent Night On October 26, we assembled in Vancou- ver, Washington, for an evening of fun and inspiration. With the theme, God Bless America, we portrayed our homeland with humorous skits and songs. After a brief intermission and refreshments, the talent resumed on a note of praise and worship. Our president, Brother Klemin, concluded with the thought that variety is what makes it possible for us to accomplish our var- ious tasks for God. JF Fall BarngtMet He paid the cost. . . You tell the lost Sacrifice was the keynote of that simple, yet festive event we remember as our Fall Banquet. Our speaker, Regional Field Supervisor Edwin E. Judd, was introduced as a former teacher and past presi- dent of CBC. He spoke briefly of his own work in Latin America, and then turned our eyes to the ten thousand souls born just that hour who also needed our attention. We returned home with a greater sense of responsibility for the lost world around us. Spiritual Emphasis Fall Winter Something thrilling awaited us during spiritual emphasis week when we focused our attention on Jesus and allowed Him to reward us. From the very first evening our souls were re- freshed with heaven ' s rain. A spirit of unit} ' prevailed as Brother John Russell of Billings, Montana, preached the Word. His message ( To Be Continued. . . ) from Acts 2:42 set a keynote for the year. Winter spiritual emphasis was a time to pray, consecrate and renew our faith. In chapel Sister Klemin taught on faith, fellowship, faithfulness, and fruitfulness for God. She also spoke on the New Birth and God ' s unique care for us. Our intern, Ernie Dumaresq, and our student body president, Ed Holloway, ministered in the evening. Their messages touched on the basics of our Christian walk and faith in the Name Jesus. Chair Activities Practice At the Space Needle (Seattle, Wa.) Before a concert Fund-raising Mexican Dinner At a meal in Seattle Campus Work Day Rakes, brooms, shovels, win- dows, hedges, treats! Treats? Sure. After a morning of enthusi- astic activity from seven-thirty until ten a. m. , we were more than ready for a break of hot cocoa and treats. By noon, we were finished. We had shined up the premises. The cooperating hands of both stu- dents and faculty had accomplished a mammoth task in a few short hours. Freshman Night THE RETRIAL OF JESUS CHRIST Hours of work and practice made this year ' s production a memorable success. The drama opened with Jesus ' trial before the Sanhedrin and the Roman government and concluded with a modern courtroom scene. The audience played a most important role as THE JURY. In their hands rested the decision to crucify Jesus Christ afresh or invite Him to dwell in their hearts. 1 1 | J: 1 Winter Retreat A car caravan transported CBC to the Oregon Coast on February 16- 17 for a two-day outing at Camp McGruder. Late Sunday afternoon we played games and fellow- shipped. The evening closed with a spontaneous worship service a- round the rustic fireplace. After a hearty Monday breakfast we built sand-castles, hunted buried trea- sure, and explored the beach. At dinner-time we feasted on roasted pig and returned home refreshed, ready to get on with our studies. Visitors - Division of Education Eight United Pentecostal Bible Colleges were repre- sented here as their presidents met with the UPC Division of Education to discuss issues relevant to our Bible College programs. a S o SI Faith supplied the need as CBC students sought... and found jobs of all kinds to finance their education at CBC. Junior - Senior Banquet A spirit of love pervaded the atmosphere of the Ju- nior-Senior Banquet held at Scouter ' s Mountain Inn in full view of snow-capped Mount Hood. Juniors surprised the seniors by revealing that a chapel had been built in the Philippine Islands in honor of the Senior Class with funds raised by the juniors. Rev- erend Ralph Holland, missionary to Costa Rica, spoke from John 20:21- As my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. Each senior was challenged to respond to that message as he came forward to be prayed for by our president, Brother John Klemin. . 4ft t 4f . . i! ■r Many late-night hours went into the preparation of an All School Drama depicting the Revival of the Name. ia v CBC Bookstore An outstanding feature on campus was the CBC Bookstore. As its campus project for 1975 the student body chose (with the approval of the college staff and board of directors) to provide funds for ROOFING and CAMPUS IMPROVEMENTS. Funds for this project were raised through the yearbook sales program. We take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to our many friends who have cooperated with us students by their generous donations toward this project. These donations have made the 1975 YEARBOOK PROJECT a great success. The persons whose names appear on these two pages have made contributions beyond the regular purchase price of the book. The BOOSTER LIST includes the names of all those who have made donations of $10. 00 or more. THANKStoeach one who has supported the college expansion program through ENSIGN 1975.
