What the h was that? Being a Signalman is an art- form. First, you get to learn how to draw all the letters and numbers with your body, to read and send morse code with lights, identify ships by their silhouette and country by flag, tie lines and paint a lot. Signal- men are responsible directly to the Officer of the Deck for all contacts in visual range. They must be able to identify them and then communicate visu- ally using international codes. The shipping lanes through the Red and North Seas gave CONOLLY Signalmen LOTS of practice! No Formal Pics: RM1 ,SWI Scott H.Bell SM1 ,SW Mark Lent RMSN Cedric C. Edwards RMSA Damien J. Moore 1,2, 3.
