You are now looking at one of the busiest comers of Connors Campus, and one of the fightenest groups of workers . . . but it has been fun to assemble this book for you . . . Nor rain, nor hail, nor sleet, nor snow deterred us! lf some of you failed to be pictured, we regret it, but we did try . . . try to get either a photograph or a snapshot of everyone. Members of the Staff enjoyed a few higher moments along with the work. A trip to the Workshop at Southeastem, Wilburton, as guests of Semco was enjoyable in spite of going through sloughs of rain to get there. Sponsoring the Sadie Hawkins Week and Dance, Dog-Patch style was another respite. That Cod Ole Mountain Music on the Gee-tars, and the Rea-fresh-ments, made all the little Daisy Maes, Little Abners, Marryin' Sams Pa-and-Ma Yokums, and all the rest of the comic-strip characters feel real good! What with the Daisy Mates chasing their Little Abners all week made the Campus look ''on-dignified-fer-sure ! The final social affair for the Staff was a dinner party at the Western Hills Lodge in Sequoyah Park. Bidding you Goodbye soon, the Con-Rah! Staff wishes you a contin ued happy life and much satisfaction out of referring to the pages which follow. Williams, Altus. ..M5f0l'y of Cannon! CO! eg? CONNORS STATE AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE was authorized by an act of the first legislature, May 10, 1908. Through the influence of Senator Campbell Russell, Warner was chosen as its location and one-hundred-sixty acres of land upon which the school is located were given to the school by the citizens of Warner. The school was named for Mr. J. P. Connors who was at that time President of the State Board of Agriculture. The first session of Connors opened in February of 1909 in downtown Warner. In 1911, the Administration Building was completed and the school was moved to its present site, one mile west of Wamer. Mr. J. A. Liner was the first president. Mr. Walter Van Allen was the succeeding president in 1910, and he was followed by Mr. J. S. Murray in 1911. The presidents during the 1912-1913 session of the school were Mr. J. V. Faulkner and Mr. W. S. Jackson. President Ren- nick replaced Jackson in 1913, but he remained only a short time. He was succeeded by Mr. Malone who resigned in 1917. At that time Mr. George A. Coffey of Haskell State School of Agriculture was transferred to Connors. In 1918 Mr. H. C. King became president of Connors and he held the position for fifteen years, Succeeding him as president was Mr. jacob Johnson whose service has been continuous. In 1943 the war program called Mr. johnson into active service overseas, and during his leave of absence Mr. True B. Emerson served as acting president. From the original one-hundred-sixty acres, the college land has been increased to two-hundred-ninety acres, and the buildings have increased from one to twelve major buildings. The campus, which covers about thirty-four acres, is beautifully landscaped. An amendment to the Oklahoma Constitution made on july 11, 1944, set up a governing hoard for the agricultural and mechanical col- leges. This board consists of nine members, eight of whom are appointed by the Governor subject to the approval of the State Senate, and the ninth member is the president of the State Board of Agriculture. o
