It is an interesting story because you and your friends are part of it. This was a year in which you worked in the classroom, made a host of new friends, and took part in many campus activities. You studied, played, and planned for your future. It was all a rewarding, never-to-be-forgotten experience. To the Sophomores: I hope you continue your education. It was certainly a pleasure having you with us for two years, and we hope you,ll come back and visit us from time to time. To the F reshmen: You,ve been a wonderful group of young men and women to work with, - and I hope to see each of you back at Connors in the fall of 1959. Greetings All: This has been another good year for Connors. The cooperation of students, instructors and ad- ministration has made it so. Our congratulations go to the Con-Rah staff for recording this yeafs history. Each year brings new problems and new ideas to challenge our thinking. Our present and future are affected by swiftly moving events that are a part of our daily living. Living these events together as a group is an important part of our total education. Your faculty is pleased to have had this op- portunity to work with you. It is my hope that each of you can find real satisfaction in this yeafs experience of living, working and playing to- gether. Congratulations to our sophomores who will be graduating. We extend a cordial invitation to our freshmen to study with us again next year. Best wishes to all. To him must go a great portion of the credit for the growth and stam- ina of the college as we know it. WE SALUTE HIM. Mr. Johnson began his career in the public schools of Faxon and Indiahoma, Oklahoma, as grade principal, and later, superintendent of schools. He was married to Miss Ruby Galyon of Lawton. They have two children . . . Bill of Evansville, Indiana, and Mrs. Sherrill Duvall CiJodieU of Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania. Five grandchildren call President and Mrs. Johnson by their iipet names . . . xJake P2? and iiMamma B007, After 11 years at Indiahoma, Mr. Johnson was appointed President of Connors in 1933. He has the distinction of having served a longer period of time as president than any other present- day college or university president in Oklahoma thus making him the itDean of Presidents of Okla- homa Institutions of Higher Learning? His educational training was received at Edmond State College, the University of Oklahoma, and at Leland Stanford University of California. President Johnson saw service in two World Wars. In World War II, he served as military Government Officer in charge of Education in the European Theatre, 1943-1945. He also served in the campaigns of the Rhineland, Ardennes, Northern France, and Central Europe. He was awarded the E.A.H.E. Theatre Ribbon With four bronze stars, the Victory Medal, and the American Theatre Ribbon. President Johnson is an active Rotarian, Knight Templar, and Shriner. He is a member of the Eastern Oklahoma Area Council of Boy Scouts, and holds the SilverBeaver Award. GOOD LUCK, iiPREXYf and may your life be long and happy.
