MUSIC AS A CAREER Your future . . . college, marriage, children? Maybe, but for Pat O'Brien It's making a career as a lead guitarist. Pat has been playing in a band named Sava- tage for about a year now along with his youn- ger brother. Danny, their new bass guitarist. Pat has been individually playing the guitar for approximately 3VS to 4 years. Pat says, It takes a lot of time and devotion to be in a band, not only because you have full time practices four to five times a week, but you also have to do a lot of individual practicing. For the future, Pat plans to make a career out of playing in a band. All of his extra money goes to new equipment and to pay for his classical quitar lessons which he takes at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. For many teenagers Pat's age, being some- one so talented in music is merely a dream. For Pat O'Brien . . . possibly success. P.S.C. FRED FIELDS - HIS ARTISTIC ABILITY It is o kind of meditation. Maybe not for all of us, but, as Fred Fields says, It is easy to lose yourself in painting. What makes Fred special is that he sees things differently. He is an artist who works three to four hours a day on art, and usually with eight or nine paintings going at once. Fantasy, Adventure, and American Indi- an scenes are his favorite types of art. In the past several years, Fred has won many blue ribbons at the Boone County Fair for these works. Fred's dream is to design book covers, record jackets and illustrate different types of articles. He has a big head start toward his goal. In the future, don't be surprised if you glance at a book cover and notice the designer's name, Fred Fields.
