Phase 5: This is the final phase before the youth leaves the program. He is only required to attend the program two afternoons a week and on Saturdays. He can go anywhere with his parents without permission; he con drive with o parent in the cor. It is the preparatory stage for Seven Stepping. The youth Seven Steps when he or she is considered strong enough by the staff to stay ''straight . Seven Stepping consists of o follow up period of six months, during which both the youth and his parents ore required to attend ot least one Friday open meeting o month. For six months the Seven Stepper has to give ot least six hours o week back to the program. No one will be refused admittance to the program due to lock of funds. Seven Steppers raise money by selling items and holding pan- cake breakfasts. The program also receives grants and donations from corporations to help those with financial difficulties. So far, of all those who hove completed the five phases, 83% successfully stay straight. After the six month follow up, there hos been o 100% suc- cess rote. Benefits of the program include staying off drugs, passing school, better family relation- ships, friendships, and happiness. The young people develop a wholesome attitude towards life, and respect themselves. The term Pig Farmer” was started when Boone County and Conner separated and became two schools. Conner being the rural, Boone Coun- ty soon began calling us Pig Farmers. Conner de- cided to play up the part and consider it a compli- ment instead of the intended insult. Since then. Pig Farmer's Day has become a tradition that will last for years to come. We the students of Conner are proud that we have become known as Pig Farmers, because at Conner, Pig Farmers do it in the mud!!!
