The Conner Vorsity Soccer Team continued ro build after its second sea- son with o promising future despite its losing record. Before the outdoor soccer season opened, the Cougars portiapoted in on indoor soccer tournament or Scott High School on March 18 and 19. Con- ner placed second in their division with o 1-1-1 record and 14 points. The cougars opened the outdoor season wirh o lie against Holmes. This tie was followed up with four straight Soccer losses ogoinsr Boone County, Coving- ton Catholic, Covington Latin, ond Lloyd. Conner then won its first gome of the season ogoinsr Holmes before losing ro Scott the next gome. Leading the ream wirh three goals each were Bruce Wyckoff ond Bob- bie Urz. Just behind the leaders were Dennis Everett wirh two gools, ond Dove Oblinger ond Bandy Godsey wirh o goal opiece. Jeff Wege earned Most Valuable Player honors for the '83 season. (Vhondo Mornn, Amy Whire Cheerleaders Cheerleaders Cheerleaders During 1982-83, eighr varsiry cheerleaders and eighr junior varsiry cheerleaders attended a U.C A camp, (Universal Cheerleaders Association.) There they learned new techniques ond si-sills which contributed to an outstanding year Many Cheers were brought bock from U C.A comp including blue ribbons and rhe highly famed spirit stick. Learning cheers was a big factor at comp, bur for rhe Conner Cheerleaders it was also on opportune 11 rime to ger to know each other ond $ to work os o group. Long hours of practice hos always been one of rhe main components in rhe Conner Cheerleaders success ond this year was no exception. Ever since rhe cheerleaders were chosen by three outside judges, they hove been working hard to ger ready for rhe 82- 83 season. Practicing or least two days o week since Moy, another doy of practice is added os football ond basketball season draw nearer. Cheerleaders con hove, or rhe mosr three gomes o week ond for this reason o variety of up to four uniforms is o necessity. With devotion ond Encouragement of sponsor, Hope Kinmon, Coproin Amy Whire, ond Co-capram — Mono Deck, rhe cheerleaders rested their skills in rhe KAPO's 36rh district competition, held here or Conner, where rhe cheerleaders placed second. Conner cheerleaders hove always represented spirit ond never giving up hope. Dy passing rhis idea onto each ond every fon, rhe cheerleaders hove helped us to realize that in our hearts rhe Conner Cougars will be Number 1.

The Cougar golf ream consisred of seven players ranging from sophomores ro seniors. Each player feir rhey hod somewhor of o frusrroring season bur Richord Poore could nor complain os he qualified ro go downsrare. As o whole, rhe Conner golf ream compered in 21 rournomenrs induding Regional held or Boone Counry on May 2, 1983.
