COMMANDER RICHARD F. PITTENGER UNITED STATES NAVY COMMANDER JOHN R DALRYMPLE JR UNITED STATES NAVY COMMANDER PITTENCER was born in Lexington, Nebraska, on june 1, 1935 and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in june, 1958. His first tour of duty was aboard USS DUPONT QDD 941j, Norfolk, Va., where he served as ASW Officer, Torpedo Officer from 1958 to 1960. Following his tour aboard DUPONT, he served as ASW Officer on the commissioning crew of USS FARRAGUT QDLG-65, Mayport, Florida, from 1960 to 1962. From 1962 - 1965, CDR PITTENGER attended Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, where he received a Master of Science Degree in Physics. Upon completion of postgraduate studies, he served aboard USS RAMSEY QDEG 2j at Seattle, Washington, as Weapons Officer. In 1967, he assumed command of USS PLEDGE QMSO 492i in Long Beach, California. This was followed by a tour as Aide and Flag Lieutenant to COMFIRSTFLT in San Diego, California. From 1969 to 1971, he served as Executive Officer aboard the USS PERRY QDD 844D in Mayport, Florida. In 1971, he reported to the naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island-as a student. In 1972, CDR PITTENGER1 assumed duties as Force ASW Officer for COMCRUDESLANT, and in 1975, he became Surface ASW Officer on the newly. formed COMNAVSURFLANT Staff. He held this position until june 1976 when he reported aboard the USS CONNOLE QFF 1056i for duty as Commanding Officer. Commander PITTENCER has the National. Defense Service Medal and Navy Commendation Medal. He is married to the former Marjorie ANDRADE and has three daughters, Elizabeth Margaret and Katherine and a son john james A graduate of the University of North Carolina COMMAN DER DALRYMPLE was commissioned rn October 1960 Durlng h1s first five years he served in destroyers lncludmg a tour as Weapons Officer of USS RICH QDD 8205 and participation 1n the multilateral mlxed manning demonstration aboard USS CLAUDE V RICKETTS fDDG 4l In july 1966 following a tour at the Defense Intelligence School in Washington D C he assumed command of the USS WIDGEON QMSC 208j homeported in Sasebo japan He commanded USS WIDCEON and performed additional duty as Commander Mme Division 32 unt1l October 1968 when he reported to Office of the Chief of Naval Operations for duty In 1970 following a tour in OPNAV Commander DALRYMPLE attended the Naval War College where in addition to his War College Studies he obtained a Masters Degree in International Affairs Following Naval War College 1nIuly of 1971 Commander DALRYMPLE commenced a tour as Executive Offlcer of USS BERKELEY QDDC- 155 followed by a tour as Commanding Officer USS BUCHANAN QDDG 145 Commander DALRYMPLE reported to his duty as Commanding Officer USS CONNOLE in May 1974 Commander DALRYMPLE holds the Bronze Star Medal Qwlth Combat VD the Navy Commendation Medal Qwlth Combat VJ the Combat Action Ribbon Navy Unit Commenda tion Meritorious Unit Commendation National Defense Service Medal Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal A native of North Carolina Commander DALRYMPLE IS married to the former Carol HOLLINGSWORTH of Esko Minnesota and has two sons Iohn and Mike ' I 1 1 ' I 7 7 7 7 , . a s a . . , 9 ' ' 1 7 , . 3 ' 5 7 1 a , . EXECUTIVE OFFICER LIPQUTENANT CQJMMANDER BJ. BINFORD, USN A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Lieutenant Commander BINFORD l was commissioned in .April 1965. Following two years in the Aviation Training Command, Lieutenant Commander BINFORD was assigned to USS KEARSARGECCVS 33D as CIC Watch Officer. In 1968, he reportednto USSKROBISON CDDG 12J where he served until l970g first as CIC Officer and then Operations Officer. In 1970 Lieutenant Commander BINFORD reported to the Bureau of Naval - Personnel .as Carrier Placement Officer. In 1973, following his BUPERSH tour, he reported to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, California earning a Master of Science Degree in Communications Management in March 1975. He was then assigned as a student at the' Armed Forces Staff College in lNorfolk, Virginia. Lieutenant Commander BINFORD .reported onboard USS CONNOLE in April 1976 for duty as Executive Officer. Lieutenant Commander BINFORD is married to the former Miss Myrna Stevens of LOCKPORT, ILLINOIS. They have two daughters, Maura and Marla. SENIOR CHIEF PETTY OFFICER L.E. JENKINS, USN Following induction and basic training in 1960, Senior Chief JENKINS was assigned a student at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Upon completion of FT A and FT C Schools, Senior Chief JENKINS was detailed to USS DEWEY QDLG-l4J for duty. In 1963, he transferred to USS SHENANDOAH QAD-26J where he served until 1965 in the Repair Department. In 1965 Senior Chief JENKINS completed FT B School and then reported aboard USS TRUXTON QDLGN-35D for duty. Qualifying for shore duty in 1968, he transferred to Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, serving as an instructor until 1972. As a volunteer for the Personnel Exchange Program, Senior Chief JENKINS attended the Foreign Service Institute at Washington DC obtaining a level 3 Proficiency in German Language. He was then assigned as an instructor to Naval Amphibious School, Little Creek. He reported for duty aboard USS CONNOLE in November 1975. Senior Chief JENKINS is married to the former Eileen Gormley of Collingswood, New Jersey. They have three sons David, Michael and Roy. SENIOR ENLISTED ADVISOR
