The above quotation tells us that the material things of life are more fleeting, unstable and much less important than the manner in which we live our lives. Character implies many moral and spiritual qualities, Among the more important of these traits necessary to insure your future happiness and success is the desire to get along with people, the willingness to be tolerant and considerate of others, recognition of your own obligations, respect for law and order, and the development of desirable attitudes, ideals, self-control and a sense of fair play, Without these all else is of little consequence. I wish to congratulate each of you upon the successful completion of your training program. l sincerelyhope that the skills and knowledge you have acquired here will prove to be the foundation of a successful and happy life. Although graduation may, for many of you, mark the termination of your formal training, l earnestly suggest you do not permit it to be the end of your desire to learn. Continue to build upon the foundation you have just completed. Through industry, initia- tive and a continuing effort to improve your 'iknow-how , you can make it grow and pay dividends for the rest of your life. Your future success and happiness will be a source of joy and satisfaction to me and to your instructors. X John E. Davis Z1-1-47 W I-I Coordinator Robert J. Gregg Vice Principal Rufus A. 'lhere was once a young freshie named Paul Who went racing one day down the hall lle IHCI with disaster, for his head struck the plaster And left a great stain on the wall. Now a sophomore whose name was Gene The handsomest boy you've ever seen Knows a freshies temptation to get recreation And felt sorry that Paul hurt his bean. Then a junior awoke from a doze Looked at Paul and then turned up his nose He thought more of the plaster than of Paul's great disaster And on the stained wall turned the hose. But our bright senior lad known as Ed Took poor freshie and put him to bed Told him to be nice, gave him some good advice, The impression is still on Paul's head. 5+ SUPPLY Room -l- I MW G W ::::'1 u HUIW X ,ff Z' Jw PENCILS , Z, L I PENCll2i0 X t 2 Dm?'J6Y M .....l.....J-j..J XLX uaowsnuxss 20' .1 .--I L ufvnfoe msses U5 l FJZB X ,..-I -xs,...fX J 7 gk -3 U ummm a I' -J ' X gig x, E 'if wi W wwf M' X F v O Q .X g 1 Row-mse -rom E if kg XZJQ75 X CARTOONS BY 0232? The Tradesman has attempted to inform the public and the industries of Pittsburgh about our and academic classes, ltis also the task of The Tradesman to inform the students in advance of the coming activities and sports events. The staff of The Tradesman consists of Managing Editors James Marshall and Carl Strom, Sports Editors Daniel Khalil and Sam Simong and Art Editors Ronald Toth, and Ronald Nolan. These editors are assisted by a number of active reporters. lt is the duty of the managing editors to arrange the layout and give assignments to the report- ers. The sports editors collect the sports news. The art editors draw the cartoons and crop the cuts for the paper. With the help of these young men, The Tradesman is striving to show the people that a trade school benefits both the boys attending and the industries in the community.
