Our season this year wasn't good as expected but as someone com- mented at the end of the season, Some schools are lucky to have a 5-5 season, When asked about the team,f Coach Braddock commented, The seniors on our team did an ex- cellent job of playing and leading our football team, Unfortunately, we didn't have the numbers of seniors we would like. Many of our under- classmen turned in superb perform- ances, but we didn't have the con- sistency that makes a championship team. It is hoped that the lessons learned this year will enable us to become champions next year. The team voted David Hart as Def- ensive Captain and Allen Olberding as Offensive Captain. Brian Cook was awarded the Inspirational Award Kent Mackay, Steve Search and Allen Olberding were named to the all- conference team with honorable men- tions to Dan Stewart, Mike McClain, Steve Meadows and Thane Davidson. State Placing Pleases Coach When you come in sixth in the state, it's been a good year with a lot of hard work, My guys - they're great, That's how Coach Engelhard summarized the season of his Eagle cross country team. Connell hosted their annual Invitational during North Franklin Days. The race was one of the largest and most suc- cessful in the state. After a tough season facing many Class AA and AAA powers the Eagles once again emerged as league and district champions. At the state meet in Seattle, the Eagles surmounted rain, forgotten shows, spills and some tough competition to rank 6th in state. Connell was the only school to have two runners place in the top twelve. Lee Silcox was 6th and Randy Fox came in 12th.
