Running QThaneJ, kicking fKarlj, and passing QKentJ, is what football is all about, and the Eagles showed that they had learned their lessons well, by placing 2nd in contributed to the team greatly. Chosen by the team as award winners were: Defensive captain, Randy Odonng Offensive captain, Eliazar Gonzalez and Mark Cochran. 1 ,S V as ,, v The young Eagles, who had a, 1 - 8 - 1 record are from top to bottom, left to right: Kevin Heinen, Mike Heiman, Frank Lords, Scot Smith, Rolando Mata, Greg Mackay, Keith Baker, Clint Didier, Nicky Kostoff, Brian Koelzer. Joel Waner, Craig Klindworth, Mike Person, Ron Krug, Richard Dickinson, Tim Taylor, Ken Nipper, Brad Casper, Mr. Hall. Not pictured: Ferron Kenmore, Alfredo Escalera., and John Cox. The JV team consisted of mostly the Freshmen pictured, but a few Sophomores and Jun- iors aided them. Playing half JV, and half Frosh, their inexperience dealt them mostly losses, but the class is full of good athletes, and are high on participation, which should prove to produce first - rate pla.yers in the years to come. To the young Eagles, sports are, and they will make them be.

Youth Pays Off Over Experience A Harriers Go To State The old adage of youth falling prey to experience, was never so false, as seen in the 1973 Cross Country team. This team, that went on to place 12th in state, did so with- out the aid of any Seniors. They were the smallest team, consisting of only seven boys and one girl, but they were mightier than most. Besides doing competition against such schools as Othello, Colfax, Kamiakin, Hanford, and Richland, they also did battle against the other fall sport - football. This often found the Cross Country team coming up short with fans, but yet they trudged on. On and on they Went over rugged, hilly, or sandy courses, to try and get the best time.
